Default Supercharger Possibility

Hey guys, a few weeks back I emailed URD USA regarding a supercharger application for the TC2. I finally got a response back. I was told they can do one if they get a vehicle for 6 weeks. I think they're out of MD. Email address is info@urdusa.com If someone is from MD, take the car there and see what they tell you.

I don't think they'll mass produce anything but they said they can make one for our car.

@^%$

First test in my area and it's something they need for 6 weeks.

Wife was reading this over my shoulder and promptly replied "GTFO".

Other than the loss of my DD for 6 weeks, she has seen/heard of the issues with the TRD SC for the tC1.... lol I did not marry a dumb one.

Bearing issues right? Rebuilt SC's with way better bearings I heard are far more reliable.

Supercharging was not problem..TRD used a poorly designed s/c on the gen1 Tc. I'd much rather have a s/c that was designed right vs. a turbo. You get a very broad powerband with a proper s/c setup. It may not peak as high as a turbo at the same boost level, but the power comes on sooner and smoother. Too bad I live too far from MD. I'd be all over it otherwise. This engine would be a beast with a s/c. Done right, it would probably keep the torque over 200 ft/lbs from 2k to redline.

Seems this idea has been axed by the company, attempted to get the ball rolling, but they emailed back saying they won't be proceeding.

I tried with a couple places myself, no luck either. I might could squeeze out $3-3500 for boost, 4-5k is just too much. I am down to only one car payment and it is really nice.

They seem to be Honda centric (even make a kit for the Fit!!!), but hope, pray, chant or whatever else you may do that they bite.

Well, props to Kraftwerks for getting back to me quickly. Also gotta give the guy props for a well written email.

However, as nice as the presentation was, there wasn't much substance. Guy who emailed me said he emailed R&D suggesting doing a supercharger for the tC but that they'd have to finish up the current projects first. Sounds like no luck with them in the near future.

URD is an excellent company and Gadget is a top notch tuner. Perhaps if you guys could show enough interest, you could make something happen there. IT's gonna take more than a few interested parties to cover that kind of R&D. OTOH a properly designed turbo setup will embarrass an equivalent SC setup quite easily.
