Default Turbo and VVT-I.

Hey everybody,first time poster.
Im in Quebec and i have a 2011 scion tc turbo.
I have an AEM F/IC piggyback installed and ive
been working alot with the fuel delivery system since
i changed to 725cc dynamics injectors.
The problem i have is that because of the damn vvt-i
i cant get 3 runs on the dyno to give me the same powerband.
The vvt-i seems quite unpredictable and i was wondering
what did you people do?
Did you disable it?Did you manage to run the turbo setup
in perfect harmony with the vvt-i?
Worst part is im running an older version of the F/ic
so the only tab i can change the value on is the fuel/bst one.
Thanks.
Oliver.

VVT-i should not change your powerband

VVT will alter your band. Standalone engine management is the way to get guarantee the best results with these VVT engines.

Exactly, what Paul said. The F/I C won't be able to control the valve timing. After my first tune on the F/I C we also noticed that the fuel trims kept being overwritten. If you can get your hands on a standalone system or even something close to, you'll be gold.

I ended up getting an AEM EMS2 and had Eric Plebani from World Racing East install and tune it.

I'm planning on getting this same stand alone but didn't see an application for our tC's on AEM website and was told that it won't be available until this summer most likely, how yours was installed? Factory harness? Everything is working as stock?

Everything was custom. The EMS is an S2K box modified and developed by Mitch at AEM. World Racing only had a few of them and they are still not a true standalone.

My car is still being worked on at the moment. Needs new pistons.

The harness is a PnP made by WR and from what I'm told the car will run as stock after it's tuned.

Is it a full standalone, Paul? I'd be very interested ! The stock ECU on our cars is a headache to work around, I'm told.

I wrote Brian Crower about the possibility for BC camshafts, valvetrains and other internals and this was their reply:

We are talking about it but nothing has been done yet. We are judging the
demand as it's quite expensive to make the tooling for the cams and we just
need to verify the demand for the product will be there.

I hope they get more emails and calls with request for our 2AR-FE's so this can become a reality...

Thanks for the response guys.I was wondering if anybody else has this god damn p0138 popping up once in a while.Ive got a scangauge 2 installed so i clear it from time to time but last i checked it seems to be because of the MAF sensor not liking my turbo? The weirdest part, everytime this code pops up i get the traction controled disabled automaticly :/
Thanks

Its the best 160$ ive ever spent on my car.
Especialy since we dont have a water temp gauge.
It can even calculate your 0-60 time.
