2012 Pioneer Radio Microphone wiring..
OK, I have the stock Pioneer radio and was wondering which plug went to the stock Bluetooth mic?
I have another radio in now and want to wire the stock mic to the aftermarket radio but don't know which plug it is and can't find it in the wiring diagram.

I have the same issue, the mic is located in the light housing above the front seats, however there are 4 wires going to it, it looks as if it may be on the Canbus network in the car but I cannot confirm this. If anyone knows I would appreciate it. BTW if you want to connect an Axxes steering wheel control adapter its pins 6-7-8 on the 20 pin connector. Wired it, powered it, and it set itself automatically. Very nice product.
Ok, Not sure if anyone else found out any more but it appears that the built in mic has an amplifier, therefore 4 wires feeding it. from other Toyota forums I found you can either bypass the amplifier and solder directly to the mic outputs, and connect via a barrel connector like the one that comes with the aftermarket radio. if you want it amplified you will need to supply 5V to the other pins. I am still not sure which pins in the connector in the dash they use though.
Bobert,
Thanks for the tip on the 5 volt, with that I think all it would take to complete this would be to wire in a 12 volt to 5 volt converter such as this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-DC-DC-V...20952437560%26 then wire in a standard male micorphone jack. My only concern would the 5 volt just amplify the microphone strength without sending back higher voltage to the head unit, possibly causeing damage to it.

Vegas,
Might be easier to just pull 5V off of your HU. If you have extra USB ports on the back as I do you can just get the 5V from that. Save the money on the converter, on a Standard USB connector Pins 1 and 4 are the 5v supply. Pin 1 = +5vdc, pin 4 = GND. looking at the female end with the connections facing down the pins are left to right 1-4. I have not done mine yet, but will be soon as I just got my garage back and its getting cold here!

Depending on your model you should have a USB female connector in your center console. you can just trace those wires back to the dash as they connected to the factory HU. they will have the same pinout as standard USB.

the stock mic has it's own little connector that WILL require splicing and re-wiring to be able to retrofit it into a new aftermarket headunit.
from what i've heard and experienced, it does not function well with aftermarket units, and the process to get it working is another problem.
if you don't want another mic mounted elsewhere, another option is to just mount the new microphone in the same location as the old one.

I have a 2012 and I can hear people clearly on the line, but they tell me my voice breaks up a lot. Could it just be a bad microphone in my car? I have ordered one and hope it fixes it. Or do you think something else is going wrong with the system ?
I will certainly let you know how it works out. I have heard there will be some delays in delivery so it might be awhile.
I ordered it from megazip.

Also if you have a newer phone with Bluetooth 5 or newer, it does not play well with the stock heaunit. After getting my Pixel 2 a few years ago the headunit had this behavior. After a lot of research, it looks like the factory deck is built with Bluetooth 1.1 (or something, been 5+ years since I've looked into it) but it is incompatible with the signal from the newer Bluetooth version that the phone has. It played music fine and I could hear people fine, but I was choppy af on the other end. I had to swap my deck to fix that, but have not had an issue since. Also after a lot of troubleshooting I ended up having to install the mic that came with the Pioneer aftermarket deck in order to get people to properly hear me as well. I hid all the wiring and mounted it behind the rear view mirror to be stealth.
