2014 Audio System (tC)
#23
Additionally, I ran the auto EQ with my optimizer mic from my Yamaha home audio receiver and it clears up a lot of the mud from the speakers, it's shocking how awful they were tuned stock. Sounds a lot better now!

I upgraded to a clarion nx702. Actually I told the dealer I wouldn't buy the car with the stock stereo and they put that in. In the end the sound is better. Lots of eq tweaks I had to do. Started with using the 16 band eq on my phone, eventually switched to the clarion eq with way better results. The stock speakers are the problem now.
I don't want to eq the sound out of my audio.
Pretty much you NEED to replace the whole system if you want good sound.

Thats the problem with any car anymore and the fun in customization, and yes more weight equals lower mpg just like the way you drive it does as well, its all in what you want to do and how you want to enjoy your vehicle. I enjoy the pioneer that you were looking at, but as to how it would perform with stock speakers, thats unknown, if you really want to keep the stock speakers the other option is a jbl ms-8, its a digital processor that like some home theater systems can tune your care stereo for you. It installs like an amp and is 20 watts rms per 8 channels, which is the total number of speakers in the car, but youd have to wire each speaker to it directly, which by the sounds you wouldnt want to do since its a lease, but a viable option for those who own the car.
