Is anyone planning on installing the “OEM AUDIO PLUS”
I got a chance to see and hear this setup first hand this past weekend. It sounds amazingly good. I can't say if its worth 1400 but thats all relative. Personally, Id do it if I was picking up a tC2 because you won't need to add anything else. The speakers are very clean.
i asked the team that didn't go to OH come out to a car meet at the Extreme Dimensions (body kits) warehouse. it was the same day...maybe he heard them there
and I was there. haha
EDIT: i actually took a look at his location...so he probably wasn't at the meet in So Cal..haha
but the sound and quality of this system is def up there with any high end audio setup out there. I def think if you have the money, its totally worth it.
i just wanted to make sure people keep in mind that the OEM guys aren't just collect components and reselling them. they also took the time/money/effort to do research on fine tuning it, which is part of OEM's price tag on the Reference 400CF
Come on, they aren't charging $1400 just for the hell of it. I'm sure it sounds phenomenal and better than just about anything you could put together yourself for less than $1400.
A system consisting of a few swapped speakers and maybe a sub and some amps isn't going to come close to competing with OEM Audio+, so don't bother making such claims.
The only thing you can do is to decide if the $1400 is worth it.

Therefore the $1400 does not justify the hardware used. For all you know the speakers could be very low grade and all you are paying for is the custom sub enclosure and the plastic moldings around the speakers so they fit the factory holes without any third party parts required as well as an inflated price tag.
Look at the iPhone 4 for instance. It costs about half the price to manufacture however it's inflated just for profit.
nope, I got to see it at a meet in Rhode island that our region just felt like sending the RS 7 to with this package in it. I got to talk to the rep at the region about it for a while. apparently there will be audio+ for the release series that will just be a color matched sub box.

sneak peek photos of from their meeting with Toyota Corp are on their facebook by the way
The biggest point against them are the specifications for their speakers and amps which there are none.

there is also the plug n play wires, an additional tweeter in the rear, a new amp...
why dont you actually share with us YOUR system...and YOUR specs...then i will go to OEM and ask them for theirs for comparison's sake
...i already said their website isn't the greatest at giving justice to the system...so having no specs is either by design or their internet guy just didn't know how to put it in...i dont know
haha i know right? i heard a different number....but then again things might have changed from when i was with them when they were first talking about it (the day they presented it to Toyota)

Oblivionlordis doing a lot of trash talking on a bunch of threads right now…but that’s about it! All bark and no bite…no substance. I didn’t see that he had anything of substance to say anyplace…just trash talking. I don’t expect a definitive answer from him as to what he claims he has that is so much better than the OEM Audio+ system (I don't think he has anything.)…and that would be substance.
also wanted to note the with their system...the bass is distributed evenly throughout the the car and not mainly from the woofers in the doors. this means that the "infamous" door rattle bug will be minimized if not eliminated
i also noticed (with my aftermarket Pioneer in their demo tC2) that mirror vibration is also minimal....but the music can still be loud and the bass can be felt

2. "an additional tweeter in the rear"... any 2way can provide an additional tweeter in the rear. They aren't customizing a panel in the hatch by adding a whole separate tweeter that is more directional. They are just using their own 2way speaker which again proves nothing about quality since they don't reveal any specifications on their 2way.
3. New amp? Who manufacturers their amps. I can tell you who manufacturers my subwoofer amp and provide detailed specifications for it. They even have a track record of high success since they've been around over 30 years. As far as the quality of my Boss amp, well that's expected since Boss isn't known for quality. However, it does a damn good job for my needs just for the sole purpose to power 2 6.5" speakers at 50w RMS 4ohm which isn't going to sound any different at low-mid levels than any well known amp.
Speakers - $340
Polk Audio DXi650 - 6.5" Rear 2way - $70 shipped
Polk Audio DXi650 - 6.5" Front Door 2way - $70 shipped
Kicker KS25 - 1" Front Door Tweeter - $80 shipped
Boston Acoustic SE35 - 3.5" Front Door 2way - $50 shipped
Pioneer TS-W309S4 - 12" Subwoofer inside custom 1.6cu ported enclosure - $70 shipped
Amps - $165
Polk Audio PA880 - Subwoofer Amp - $135 shipped
Boss Audio R1002 - Rear Speaker Amp - $30 Shipped
I use the stock DU for the 1" Tweeter and 3.5"
I use the stock amp understeat for the 6.5"
Material - $165
Kicker dpk4 4g Amp Wiring kit = $55 Shipped
Fierce Audio Distro Block = $30 shipped
Sat69 Front Speaker Adpt = $15 shipped
Sat6 Rear Speaker Adpt = $16 shipped
Home Depot 6f 8g wire for second amp = $13 After Tax
Kicker 09XW1220 12g 20ft wire = $25 shipped
5m KnuKonceptz RCA Sub Signal Wire = $11 shipped
Total = $670 .. less than half of OEM Audio Plus
If I change out the Boss amp and get a 4chan quality amp for all the speakers except the door 6.5" (Stock amp is sufficient), I'd get Bostom Acoustic GTA-704 = $160 shipped. 4x70w RMS @ 4ohm 90dba. That would bring the price to $800. That's still $600 cheaper than OEM Audio.
Same HU, disable all audio enhancements, Flat Band EQ setting, Turn off subwoofers since mine is clearly better, use a 1000hz 0db sine wave audio file and you'll hear that mine will sound better. One very large difference between both systems is that mine requires alot of manual labor since alot of it isn't plug N play.
I highly doubt their "internet guy" doesn't know how. Their page is quite glorified and interactive. I'll bet money that they just aren't willing to show specifications just for the sake of comparison. It's the exact same business practice as Bose. Cheap speakers in a cube which you can buy online for $25, but they sell a whole package for over $1k which includes their proprietary hardware including amp, sub, boxes, cubes, connectors.

Actually if you read around you can find the specs. The amp/DSP combo is 360w/RMS@2ohm. Assuming the front doors will be treated as 3way component set up that would be about 135 watts per side. The rear coaxials using the remaining 90. The 8" DVC 2ohm subwoofer has a seperate 130w/RMS@1ohm amp.

A company that makes good quality small block amps is Massive Audio. Looking at the internals of their 'Nano Block' lineup amps, you'll see quickly that you are getting quality. I'd gander to say that OEM Audio Plus is nowhere near the level of Massive Audio nanos.
1. that was the point? that it factors into overall costs...which is what we are talking about
2. i was talking about what they are adding to the stock system obviously....i'm sure i can buy a speaker that has a tv in it and serves me milk and cookies and put it there....
3. i've already said that THEY manufacture their amp. if u really want the engineers name that took the lead on it i can go and find out....they also engineer all of their speakers to match harmoniously (more on that in a moment)
...
a lot of mismatching parts and also...how much does all of that stuff weight down the car?
OEM's system are all the same design. maybe its only a rumor...but i've heard it many times before.....Apline amps work best with Alpine subs....Pioneer amps work best with Pioneer subs....etc...etc. with collection the cheapest components around, yes u get a cheaper system...u get good sound....buts its not perfect.
each member in the research team of OEM are known within the auto community for their knowledge/skills at fine tuning audio systems. they literally have an ear for crisp audio....what are ur credentials?
also, i have to double check the facts, but the entire OEM system only weighs like 30lbs? i believe the JBL stealth sub enclosure (still in R&D) only is about that heavy...just think u still have to add the amp and other such components
...
i have talked personally to one of them and he clearly expressed how difficult it is to give justice to their system on the internet. and retooling their website (to what it is now) was a big step...and is still missing some things.
also i haven't taken the time to look at their website (i just check out their facebook or just talk to them directly), but they do in fact have the specs on their...or on optomize scion...or on scion.com
