Audio Troubleshooting (Android HU)
Hey all, I have an audio issue that I've been attempting to diagnose and fix for a number of months now and I would very much appreciate some help.
A while back I purchased an Android head unit InsaneAudio (who touts being an American company based out of California). After having been in a previous vehicle,
I've been attempting to install it into my tC2. After successfully installing it the first go-round, I noticed two problems with the audio:
1: At odd intervals, the audio skips/stutters to varying degrees. Sometimes it's a tiny, near-missable blip, and other times it skips nearly as bad as an old disc Walkman. This happens whether the audio is streamed or located on the internal hard drive.
2: Possibly related to the above but noticed separately, there is a noticeable audio hiss even at moderate volume. While it's near constant, it also clicks and roars regularly.
So far I've tested the preamp outputs (which do NOT recreate these issues), and I've tried rewiring the harness several times as well as purchasing a new one, removed the factory adapter to rule it out, all with no differences.
I also jiggled the wires to check if something was loose, with no changes in hiss or skips. I've been in contact with the company about this and they're as stumped as I am (which honestly, doesn't inspire any confidence in their quality control).
I'm honestly at my wit's end with the issue and am reaaaaaaally hoping I didn't sink so much money into a crappy company. Can anyone help me out?
p.s. I've attached some audio files if that helps any. for the audio skip you can hear at the 7 second mark.
