Default Factory radio question...

I've been using my 2011 tC for almost a month now and I'm having problems with the head unit. I connect my iPhone 4 and play my music through the ipod cable connection but it has happened numerous times that whenever I play it at a very loud volume for a prolonged time the sound goes "kaput!" and nothing on the head unit can be heard through the speakers. I have to turn off and back on again the car for it to be fixed.

Is this because the amp heats up and shuts down??? Does anybody know a possible explanation and how can I fix it?
Thanks

I've had this happen 4 times in the 2 weeks I've owned my car. The last time was after I got my sub installed. The sub kept pounding but all other sound stopped.
