Anyone know what the purpose is for the clear plastic between the inside door handle and where the window controsl are?

It seems to be that point that vibrates with loud bass, and either pressing the door handle out or the window controls down, stops the vibration.

 

I think it's just to keep water from the window damaging anything

 

Probably just an area they deemed to be of potential high wear and that was added for protection.
