Angry Poor Satellite Radio Sound Qualityyyyyyyy

Hey folks

I installed satellite radio in my car around a year ago. I didn't use the Toyota parts though. I used the Sirius SCC1 universal tuner and Audiovox SIR-TOY1 Toyota interface. I installed everything properly:
- Mounted the tuner and interface boxes under the passenger seat.
- Ran the antenna to the rear of the car and it is sitting next to the factory FM antenna outside the car for best reception.
- The interface works perfectly with my Scion Alpine unit.

The sound quality is poor. The volume is low and it sounds much like low-bitrate MP3 sound (you know, that "watery" kind of sound). Needless to say, I cancelled my Sirius subscription within a month). The sound quality of over-the-air HD radio is AMAZING compared to what I was hearing from satellite.

Is there anyone out there that has the Toyota satellite radio components? Is there anyone who is getting good sound quality from their satellite radio?

Which is why I will never pay for satellite radio, ever. They can claim "CD quality" all they want, its a load of horse shhh. I've listened to it in stock vehicles, aftermarket vehicles, sound docks etc etc. It all has a low bit rate "watery" sound.

Well that makes me feel a bit better about my situation. And I always heard claims about CD quality sound as well. Just blown away at how great free HD radio sounds in comparison.

So basically, there is no hope for satellite radio?

Well its been an issue since its release, what 10+ years ago now. If they haven't fixed it yet, and people are content to pay for it, I wouldn't hold much hope for the quality issues being addressed.

There's no way I'll be content to pay for that garbage. I'd rip the parts back out and sell them if I didn't have to spend hours ripping my car back apart to do it.
