Default Sub Box

Hey guys does anyone have a sub box that they had built for their 2011 or 2012 tC? Im looking to get one built for mine and the local audio shop wants 350. just to build a box for the rear cubby in the trunk. I already have a sub and an amp so that is just for the box. I have only seen one other box that fits the cubby and that was a JL Audio that is like 600 bucks.

OEM+ makes one for their $1400 kit. Look it up on optomizescion.com

I wish they sold the enclosure on its own

Im sure its a fantastic system but it is so grotescly overpriced I would never spend that much on an audio system. I could put top of the line infinitys in the car for a quarter of that price. But thanks for the imput. I am really happy with my current system I just want to add a sub in the rear to help eliminate the front door rattle

better to rig a gasket of some sort to eliminate that.

The woofer in that picture looks Ridiculously small with that guys hand next to it. Looks like the same speaker that came with my wife's bazooka tube and it Blew.. literally, tryin to get it to kick hard enough. Then her car got broken into and they stole it.. Wonder how they felt when they plugged it in or sold it to someone who found that it was blown.. LOL

yeah if it were a 10 it would sound 10x better. I believe JL audio makes a stealth box for the 2011-2012 tc i was looking at it before i upgraded.

You have also got this option:

Orrrr, dig through the ICE & Interior lounge and look for a thread titled what do you think? There is a guy there that custom made his own box, and he sells the kits, so you can do it yourself.

I haven't done subs or anything yet (waiting until it gets warmer). But couldn't you just run to Home Depot and buy a piece of wood and carve it to fit that space like the OEM+ did and tape/glue/nail/whatever to secure it inside there?

It doesn't seem that hard... Unless there is some other trick that they use. Just need to get those measurements right. It might be a 2hr+ job but at least you spent not even $50 on parts (+sub of course) and wasted part of your weekend on another install.

And if you aren't good with electrical wires then I'm sure a car audio shop can wire that sub up for ya no problem.

Am I missing something here?

You could do that too, but unless your pretty pro at wood work and have the right tools, its gonna look and sound like doodoo. Youtube "how to make a sub box" probably a good place to start. GL whatever you do.

8 is enough

its not about how loud it is...how much bass it puts out...its about quality of the music. 8 is enough

a 10 would also make it sound worse (with the OEM+ system...with something else..i have no comment)

its not rocket science...but getting it perfect and clear is harder than it sounds. also OEM+ has their sub fit perfectly with no mods...the JL on the other hand u need to drill

He said doodoo. lol
Should I consider myself immature, for laughing @ doodoo?
maybe it was the context and mental image of a dilapidated wood structure falling out of the cubby with a cartoony doodoo sound effect as non cured glue drips out.. heh. Either way made me chuckle enough to waste 85seconds writing this.

I have two twelves in mine. I agree with Kidjustin on quality (not the quality of OEM+, but the need to have quality not SUPERBOOM). I tune my subs to get that ultimate kick and bass line hum without drowning the mids and highs.

As eclectic i am.. when I put on some hip hop I wanna feel like I'm listening to a concert. Power from the low's all the way to the high's... kinda like how we want our HP an TQ.
I don't think if someone craves the loud kick/umph, whether or not clarity is a priority, that they will get it from an 8" sub..

Kid as much as your pushing this damn oem+ system either you are working for them or getting kickbacks. lol. But anyway my friend is a custom car guy so Im just going to have him build me one he said he would make the backing out of fiberglass so that it would mold to the car and Im assuming the front out of wood. Hopefully it would sound good

neither.

though i do hang out with them and they are like my friends now...but other than that. i'm in the same boat as everyone else

anyways...i'm not trying to push anyone to anything. i just want to represent my own personal opinion on what i feel is a good product

i'm just trying to help people realize that yes it is expensive...but it is worth it...

the truth is (and this is true from other people in the car industry i've talked as well as my other sponsors) that scion owners are cheap..so right when one sees something is $1k...its automatically a bad deal...

and there is nothing wrong with that...it is what it is. no hate.

i rest my case and do no look to proceed further

$350 for a customer box is not a bad price, especially if its glassed & painted. That $1400 setup seems a bit steep for what you get and you could get a lot more bang for your buck for much less than that.
