So I have a 2013 Scion tC with about 37k miles on it. My concern is my average city drive is 18-20mpg. I do have a few performance parts in this vehicle. I'm running a Tsudo S2 catback exhaust system with CNT S pipe also with CNT headers. I do as well have a TRD cold air intake. Recently when I installed my headers I noticed I've been needing to fill up my gas tank quicker than before. I don't do additional driving to my daily routine. Today I did research and had to restart my ECU because my CEL came on due to headers. I checked what my average mpg was before and it used to run between 22-25 mpg. Ever since I restarted my ECU today and I have been driving quite I bit I've only been getting 17-20 mpg. I have not hit the highway yet since restarting my ECU so I can't tell you right now what my highway mpg is. Any thoughts of this or ideas?

sucks. stop modding your car if you worry about mpgs.
Here I am all stock pulling 28city-32mpg highway and still 30mpg when pulling a trailer and a motorcycle

check your tire pressure.

Now it's back to 23-26mpg had to get a new air intake filter. Good for you 🖕🏼

Youre sacrificing the only quality our car has for no improvement in performance. If you want to get performance sacrificing mpg, get a turbo.

Only quality our car has? You must hate your tC because I love everything about mine. From exterior to interior. To all the mods done. I didn't buy my tC to just save money on gas. My post was questioning if I had any problems causing my car to give low mpgs. Now I'm driving city 24 mpg which is not bad at all with all the mods I have. Your doing 28 city and 30 highway. Good for you. Gas isn't a problem for me I was just curious why it went soo low recently. Also turbo a tC? that will only make your tC hit about 300-350 Hp. Why waste that much money on a turbo. Rather get a new car with a stock hp larger than that. But I won't because like I said I like my tC

Looks and sound that's the reason. I'm driving a 2013 blacked out Scion tC. Took the wheels off the RS 9.0 and added them on my 2013. I'll post a picture tomorrow of my beast. You think I want to track my tC or race with it? No our cars are slow. I just add mods for sound and looks

That's what you think. Instead of being stock. You should add some mods. You'll hear more than just "whistles and squeaks" trust me. Coming from someone who has mods 😂

You made no sense. Our car stock is 180hp so how is not 180hp carish already? My car sounds louder than my coworkers 2000 Porsche 911. I've raced integras and smoked them. Raced acuras RSXs and smoked them too. What point are you getting at? If you hate your tC soo much then get rid of it. Especially if you have it just to save on gas 😂😭

No, dont hate it. Works great as a DD. Changing all the mechanical things for nothing more than a tinnier sound is your choice. I just wouldnt want any attention brought to my slow car.

I didn't mod my car for attention. It was more of personal interests. Stock tCs in my opinion are quiet. I bought an exhaust to fix that problem. Then I wanted more sound because our piping stock is 2.25 now I'm running a 3.0 with my exhaust tip at 4.0. My piping is all after market. Tsudo catback with CNT S pipe and headers. Why? Like I said I love my tC but wasn't satisfied with our sound. Not because I want to race a 2015 sti lol. I'm 20 years old and this is my first car that I've had for 3 years now. So F it I'm gonna make the most of it and have fun. Our tCs are fun to mess with. I have all my stock parts. Intake,wheels,piping.

Just for the record the tC2 is a pretty quick car given it's architecture, and Toyota underrated the horsepower on the 2AR-FE.

Also don't forget it's as quick as an SI. Although I must admit I admire the VTEC system and will always love N/A Hondas.

I've seen several sources stating our car has 170-172 hp heres just a quick search.
its funny hearing anyone even racing our cars or you guys racing anyone. Almost all cars are faster than our car. I'd truly be embaressed to admit "to racing" anyone. Ashamed too that you guys are racing little civics and rsx's

Our car isn't as slow as you think it is. Integras/rsx are pushing just the same amount of HP as we are. That Vtec is giving them the HP without it they're car is slow as hell. So I hate when people with 98 integras talk ____ about my tC when they aren't pushing anything faster. The only thing they have on me is weight. They are much lighter
