2011 Scion tC Curb Weight..
Why is the 2011 Scion tC weight at 3,060 lbs.?
Is the car heavy due to the glass roof, to keep the structure of the roof from collapsing in case of a rollover.
I'm wondering why this car is more heavier then the new rear wheel drive Scion FR-S.

Because the cars have 2 different purposes. One is an economy car, where fuel efficiency is priority. The other is a driver's car, where performance was the goal. Hence the low center of gravity and nearly perfect (53/47) weight distribution. Also, if you didn't know, the FR-S is only slightly larger than a NC Miata.
Not really. Lighter for better mpg is good..but not necessary for a dd. a race/drift car on the other hand relies a lot on its weight to have better times
Also a super light dd might not be very safe...I'd feel safer in an accident in my tC than the frs

The glass roof is part of it, but nowhere near all of the weight. I'd have to do some looking to find the exact numbers, but I want to say the roof accounted for about 120 lbs (including glass, motors, etc), where the CF one Seibon put together was about 20. While 100 lbs is no joke, it's not game changing.
Other things that contribute to weight:
- Safety features (6 airbags, improved crumple zones, LATCH system, etc)
- Convenience (stereo, sound dampening, cushy seats)
- Cost (heavier parts are cheaper than lighter ones)

"Near" being the operative word in this case, means not perfect if you weren't aware. You act like I said 75/25 or something. 53/47 is damn good, not as good as 51/49 or 50/50 but I thought that was pretty obvious. So calm down, bro.
