This is so confusing getting mixed messages from Scion themselves, and from Scion dealers. Both parties should be trustworthy enough to give solid answers, but obviously one of them are mistaken since both can't be right. Do I pay my deposit just to get on a waiting list? And how will things like the spoiler work? That yellow isn't exactly popular, so IF you were to order the spoiler on it, would you have to wait for them to get one in since yellow isn't a normal option? What ever happened to the ability to order one from the factory how you wanted and then taking delivery at the dealership instead of going to the dealership to get in line for whatever they might get. One of the dealers told me there were no manual 2011s within 250 miles this morning and that the only manuals within that range were '10s. What if my area never gets a manual RS? What happens to my deposit at that point?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just insanely frustrated with St. Louis area Toyota dealerships and would really like to KNOW that I'll get what I'm paying for instead of hoping they get one at some point.

If they have to drive 300-400 miles to get you an rs they will. And that will be the miles that will be on your car when you finance, or lease it. Unless you want to pay a hefty transportation fee or pick it up yourself from another dealer. When I got my 2011 6 speed manual mgm, they had to go 120 miles to get it.

The manuals are rare to begin with. From what I've seen was my dealership got a total of 3 xb rs and two of them were automatics and the other was a manual.

I will say I have been told the 2011 model in manual is almost impossible to find. I was looking for a white one and could not find it anywhere in the northeast. That's when I decided to just wait an get the RS. As far as the options and getting them installed I really don't know. I am getting the car as is and doing the rest myself over time. Maybe one of the scion dealers on this forum can help out in this area because they will have more knowledge on this area. Sorry I can't be much more help.

Hey, you've been a huge help already! I just wish I could take you in to a local dealership and say "Look, obviously the RS can be ordered. Figure this out." Lol. If I could get some verification from the dealers on this site, I'd just go to the one helpful dealership I found and ask if I can make the standard $500 deposit on the first manual they find once they're released and just play the waiting game until then. Unless any of the dealers here have more information that might help me? Wellesley? And will they really drive the car to deliver it instead of shipping it if it's found out of state?

Update:
Last night I used Twitter to tweet at "@Scion", and I also sent an email to Craig Taguchi, who is the contact on the Toyota Press Release posted by Wellesley Scion on the original RS 7.0 thread. I woke up this morning to an email with a huge amount of detail on the RS 7.0 (including the options of a color matched yellow, or a black contrasting spoiler), as well as a missed call from California. I was considering calling the number back, wishfully thinking "Maybe Scion called me", then I realized how dumb that was and decided not to. Then my phone rang and when I answered it was Sean Pete who introduced himself from Scion Corporate. He apologized for the confusion and asked me a few details about my visits to the dealer yesterday and about my phone calls, then asked me what RS I wanted, the manual or the automatic. He also confirmed that it would be a 2012 model year, contrary to what the Scion Chat representative told me yesterday. He asked me what options I wanted and then said "Alright, you'll be hearing from your local dealership soon, and obviously there are some underlying issues with the St. Louis area dealers if none of them could help you with this. We'll be looking in to that". Within about an hour, @Scion had messaged me on Twitter to tell me that they had spoken with the Sales Manager at the dealership I visited, and I also got a call from that dealership. They told me that Scion had contacted them, given them my order, and told them that they needed to hurry up and get the order going because Scion was going to expedite shipping in order for it to be here by August.

Needless to say, I'm ecstatic right now, and incredibly thankful for the work of Sean Pete, Craig Taguchi, and Scion as a whole to get this worked out. I suppose that I'm officially order number 2 from ScionLife according to this thread. Can't wait for them to get here!

I also searched for "Sean Pete Scion" on Google, and a thread came up on this site explaining the hard work that Sean put in for another Scion Life member who had engine problems out of warranty. Sean worked with his boss to lower the repair costs from $5000 to something more manageable according to the poster. There are some extremely quality people working for Scion and I just thought it would be fitting to give a shout out to the people working behind the scenes to get things done at Scion.

That's good news and good to hear!! I'm also from the Lou area. I was gonna wait for the RS, but yellow is not for me. However I can't wait to see the accessories/parts that will be available at the parts counters. I like the honeycomb grill, front lip and new stock Headunit. Let me know when you find out more.

Will do! Sean told me that the Bluetooth/HD Radio Pioneer Unit is stock on all 2012s. My dad owns a body shop here and may be able to get the grill and/or body kit at cost if you're ever interested. I'll update this post if I hear anything else, and I'm sure I'll start a new thread when I take delivery.

I ordered my 7.0 back on the 23rd (trading in my '09 tC).

I have been getting a kick out of how many people are downing the RS because no extra power options, just cosmetics.

When you think about it most people who would be upgrading to the RS are most likely coming from a 1st gen model. Meaning there are power upgrades to the car w/ the 2011 redesign, and pretty much improved all around (at least enough to satisfy the average buyer who is not a tuner).

I purposely refused to test drive a 2011, until the next RS knowing I would've drove it off the lot and kept it. My Sales Person got a kick out of how I had told her since Oct last year to make sure I get one of the next RS models, Lol.

ok guys i got some new information. i talked to my dealer today and he told me all this. there was a shipment of toyotas/scions that arrived yesterday in new jersey (this is the port where mine will be delivered as far as anyone else i am not sure) and there were no scions on board. the factories that they are made in are being used for other cars. but that has changed and the 2012 model (including the rs7) is being made as we speak. the next expected delivery is in 4-6 weeks. i was told that most likely my rs7 will be on board. it will take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to get to the showroom floors, but they will be in the usa soon!!!!!!!! just wanted to update you guys. heres to 6-8 more weeks of waiting!!!!

So, first, I was told by Scion that shipments are made to the West Coast first since they're coming from Japan. I wonder why they'd be on boats by the time they hit Jersey? Strange. Second, I got in touch with Toyota, and here's what they told me (pretty much the same thing everyone has been saying, but it's coming from someone new. Lol):

Hello Joshua,

Thanks for contacting Scion. We certainly apologize for your experience thus far with ordering your 2012 tC RS 7.0. That vehicle is actually due to be arriving at dealerships in the United States in August, and should start trickling in to dealers across the U.S. by the beginning of next month.

We definitely appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience these delays may have caused.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly at 866-707-2466, Monday-Friday 5:00am-6:00pm PST.

Thanks for your interest in Scion.
Jennifer A.

So according to Scion Customer Experience, the first ones should be here within the next 2-3 weeks, then it's just playing the game of "any day now!". Haha.

For what it's worth, the tC is made in the Toyota Tsutsumi Plant, located in Toyota City. Toyota City is a collection of 12 different plants I believe, 8 that make parts, and 4 that make vehicles. The Tsutsumi Plant is one of those 4, and it also makes the Prius, among other vehicles. Because they make the Prius, they're also known for being "green" as far as car manufacturing plants go, and they have several solar panels, photogenic paint-covered buildings, grass on the roof, and an array of other "green" items to help the environment and reduce their usage of energy produced using non-renewable sources. At the time of the Prius production, each of their two assembly lines were steadily producing one vehicle per minute. That's stinking quick considering there's only 2200 RS 7.0s to make. That means that if the plant works 8 hour days, all of the Release Series will be done within 3 days of the first one being completed. Then it'll just be a waiting game on shipping. Just thought I'd share some interesting info. I found on where the new tCs are being built.

Pretty cool info

Reading this, my assumption would be that the trickled in qty's would be the confirmed orders.

Can't wait Already put my tint person on speed dial once I get a date
