Amsoil vs Mobil1

Does the fact that amsoil does not meet major manufacturer specifications raise any flags for anyone else (not API certified). Also their MLM marketing system raises a red flags for me. In today's internet connected world the MLM marketing system is pretty much the exclusive home of hucksters. Has anyone seen any independent testing of amsoil? Not something posted on a site sponsored by them. It probably is a decent oil but the fact they use MLM marketing is pretty much a deal breaker for me. I mean if the product is vastly superior it would dominate in a retail setting, why are they set up to encourage you to be a distributor??? It stinks of pyramid scheme to me.
