Another Canadian tC doing AutoX
Just a video I took at the first AutoX event I went to this year, it's just a test and tune day, so we weren't being timed.
Had Lots of fun!

I'm running in stock class, so I've only got the TRD Exhaust, and the Five Axis body kit and spoiler, but they're just cosmetic so they don't take me out of stock class.
I'm thinking about moving into Street Touring ad adding stuff like Sway Bars and Lowering Springs
Too bad I need money for that lol

The Five Axis Areo kit unless done at the Factory is not considered Stock legal. If you go to nationals you would not be able to run the car with the kit on. Dealer installed or even the port items are not considered stock.
Also side skirts are not legal in any class as far as I'm aware.
I have a 09 trd release series and that is for ruled for HStock. It comes with the TRD springs and rear sway from the factory. However say a standard 2009 tc that runs in Hstock could not run the springs. There is a new rule for this year allowing upgraded sway bars. Springs would still be out.
Unless they bought every item that is true the RS5 like the seats the upgraded TRD 18 inch rims ect.
None of this really matters at the local level... its up to the guys in your class to decide if they will let you run with what ever mods in stock. At Nats they would be *****. They could also be dicks at the local level and tell you to shove off. It happened to me so just look out and try to make a ton of friends there.
I Run in Street touring forward since I have a cai and front strut. I also have the OEM dealer installed small lip on the trunk. That also bumped me out of stock even though it does nothing. This year I picked up a set of 17inch rims becuase last year race tires for my 18 inch rims were very expensive lasted 120 runs and 400 street miles. This Year I have dedicated autox tires that I only use at events. I actually have two sets of tires for this year. Star specs for now and Hankook rs3s for when it gets super warm out.
This last weekend I was out in Chicago and took first in STF. 2nd place also went to the TC that took the ST championship in Chicago last year so that was cool. Anywhoo heres a video of my two fastest runs that day. The Gopro picked up all the wind of the windy city.
Here is a link to the currrent SCCA rule books.

I watched your other videos you seems to pick up speed through your later runs. Sucks they didn't have timing. Do you know how many cones you took out that day? I took the beginner school last year and I ended up ripping out my fender liner and didn't even know it. hehe
Things you can do in stock class to help you would be more seat time for sure.
1.Tires Most people in Stock class run Rcomps... get a 2nd set of rims and a credit card. Rcomps for 18inch tires are going to be expensive. There is a new stock street tire class but I really dont know much about that class yet. As I have no plans to run it.
2. you can upgrade your brake pads to a better pad. Say Hawk pads I run the upgraded TRD oem pads.
3. You can get a Rear bar that will help.
4. AS much negative camber in the front that you can get. IF the manaul for the 2011-2012 scion list Crash Bolts in there at all you can grab a set of Camber bolts and use them in stock. Right now I only have -2 degrees. If the Manuel does not list them they are not stock legal. Most Toyota's do list crash bolts as a use for alignment though.
5. You can replace the stock muffler with say the TRD exhaust.
6. You can get a drop in filter for the air intake. Say like K&n.
7. You can replace the Shocks with upgraded ones but not the springs. So you can get a set of adjustable Konis or whatever.

I guess what I should have said is that I haven't been told to not be in stock class, but I also haven't really done any championships or anything, it's just going for fun and some experience.
They'll have timing at the next event this weekend, if I make it out, and I'll probably post more videos.
I've read the rulebook, and I'm thinking of moving into the STF class, because according the the PAX it gives me a more competitive adjusted time anyway.
In the street touring section is says, and here the Five AD kit is listed at the dealer as an option, so I think that would put me in STF right?
F. Addition of spoilers, splitters, rear wings, bumper covers, valances,
side skirts, and non-functional sccops/vents is allowed provided that
either:
1. It is a production part which is standard or optional equipment of a
US model of the vehicle.
82 — 2012 SCCA® National Solo® Rules
2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog
for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for
parts sold through a manufacturer’s performance catalog (e.g.,
Ford Racing, HPD, MazdaSpeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen,
NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc).
Also part of why it seems faster is that the course was changed and widened a bit

Maybe an intake and header next year, but for AutoX adding extra power doesn't help much if you're suspension or tires aren't good
The guy that finished first on pax ran in STF too driving a MkII Golf
intake wont give you much power if any at all. What it will do is help with engine noise that way you can start to tell where you are on the RPM power band. You cant look down to know when to shift all the time. So the extra sound it does give does help.
Ha! Can't believe I missed this thread earlier.
Glad to see another tC2 autocrossing. 1stOne, donsun and I, along with a few others who aren't as active on here have been running our cars for about a year. tC2 does surprisingly well for as heavy as it is. I took 1st place in ST Novice for the Spring series here in Phoenix. And that was running on the stock, all-season Yokohamas! Now that I'm on good summer tires, I should do even better!
As for your class, the 5Axis kit definitely puts you in STF, which is a great class to be in. PAX is crazy generous and you can do most inexpensive mods. My biggest complaint about STF is you can't put on any wider wheels or tires.
And to the best upgrades you can easily add to your car.
- Hawk and EBC both make performance front pads for the tC2. EBC gave me a set to test and I've been very happy. I don't know anyone who's using Hawk's pads yet.
- Unforetunately, no one makes shocks for our cars yet.
Hope this helps and keep us posted on how you do!

AutoX Update!
I've been to two events since my last post.
The first event was held by the LSCC (Lethbridge Sport Car Club)
http://lsccautox.com/
And I placed
11th over all (PAX adjusted times)
3rd for rookies (PAX adjusted times)
5th in class (STF)
The second event was held by the CSCC (Calgary Sport Car Club)
http://cscc.speedracer.ca/forums/index.php
15th over all (PAX adjusted times)
4th for rookies (PAX adjusted times)
2nd in class (STF)
(there was only two cars running in STF)
Videos to follow!

I had a co-driver that wanted to test out the tC's ability to AutoX, having done the sport for 15 years he had much more experience than me
He finished 1st in Class (being the other car in STF)
and 8th overall in PAX
Car Update!
Today I got the TRD Quickshifter installed, I'm aware how little difference (if at all) this will make to my times, seeing as I usually shift once.
I bought it more for feel and daily driving as opposed to increase my laps time.
Wheels w/ tires
Coilovers or springs (not sure which yet)
TRD Sway-bars
Still to come!

Hey all... I'm Tony (the test-driver URBLGD mentioned above). I've made myself an introduction thread if you want to read up on my autocross experiences so far...
