hey 1stOne, i got a question. I got my filter in and it doesn't have the UP arrow but rather a FLOW arrow. so does it flow UP or DOWN? Thanks. I checked the part number and it's correct but I was a bit confused because it didn't have the arrow like yours did. Also, the filter is supposed to stick a little bit out, correct?

Thanks!

I honestly don't know! I think the flow follows the up arrow if I were to guess.

Otherwise, track the entry of the air into the car. It will start from the shroud at the bottom of the windshield.

He doesn't even have to do that. Just turn the air on, stick your hand in there, and see which side it's coming from!

Man oh man, Toyota really went cheap by not including a cabin filter in the car.. its like a $20 item, even less I bet at a manufatures costing level.

I guess Toyota had to cut at ever corner to help with profits.

I ordered the 87139-YZZ10 from the dealer for $40 (the YZZ08 was $32) CDN plus tax. FYI Blazin's 87169-* part numbers didn't come up, I assume it was a typo.

Forgot to mention that there is enough room to open the filter cover and slide the filter in without needing to removing the rear panel from step 2 in the OP, so don't bother (it's hard to pop off).

i just talked to my friend who is a technician that works at Toyota Corp. and he said that the x-50060 cabin filter is charcoal and since it is...its better/blocks more odor. he actually had one and can confirm...but he did could not confirm that the other cabin filter x-YZZ10 is charcoal or not since he did not have one with him at the time. but his assumption is that it is NOT charcoal and it is just a simple one

can any confirm if x-YZZ10 is or is not charcoal?

I can confirm, airflow is down... Installed filter in about 2 minutes. Just squeeze in the glovebox sides while pulling it towards you and lay it on the floor. Bottom panel (below glovebox) removal is not necessary. Remove white airbox cover, insert filter with airflow arrow pointing down, reassemble... Quick and easy...

edit: ordered this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...em=#vi-content

They all install the exact same, open the panel behind the glove compartment and stick in.
