Having the jl stealth box is so worth it, even if you cant use the other brace. you and I are the only people ive seen with it.
It's the best sub setup for the car for sure. I just picked a Stealth box up for the Tacoma too - can't wait to overhaul its audio, it's terrible.
Up next on the tC is new control arms and sway bar bushings front and rear. AZ is rough on rubber bushings. Planning to throw them in this weekend - depends how lazy I'm feeling lol.

The car has 94k currently. Even garage-kept, the AZ climate is harsh on anything rubber + the added stress of being lowered + my driving style. I've never had suspension bushings last this long before on any car I've owned but you can feel the tell-tale clunks that either the bushings or the BJ's are worn. I have both in the garage ready to go (+ outer tie rod ends), but I felt lazy this weekend and didn't want to get that into the car. The part that sucks is that the LCA bushings are mostly covered so you can't really visually tell if they're worn until you remove them. It's AZ though, so they're definitely ready to be replaced. I'm also not super excited to replace the passenger side after seeing the lca-bolt-to-oil-pan placement. Going to have to undo the passenger side motor mount and lift the motor or drop the subframe to get one of the bolts out. Have had to do it in the past on other cars, but I always dislike having to do extra stuff for what should be a simple replacement. I swapped out the sway bar bushings this weekend since they're so easy to change but haven't driven the car yet to see if they were a problem. The OEM's were hard but not hard enough to cause any clunks so I don't think it will fix it, but the car surely won't feel worse. My last car shredded bushings, bj's and axles like crazy so I'm still baffled at the very small amount of maintenance the tC has required. I'm still amazed that there are no urethane bushing replacements available for the tC2 anywhere that I can find, even when cross-referencing the other vehicles that share this platform. The support compared to the tC1 is laughable. At least I've been able to find greaseable replacements for everything but the rear endlinks.
Guess in your neighborhood, now is the time to do suspension work, B4 the nasty summer returns. Unless of course, you have an air conditioned garage to work in.
Well my 5yo DIY'd motor mount finally bit the dust. Been trying to figure out why my shifting was so terrible again and noticed the mount had separated one day when cleaning the car.
New DIY'd mount swapped in, still 60 duro but went red this time. Forgot how intense the NVH is before the urethane breaks in. It's so nice to be able to take my foot off the accelerator and have the car not buck violent af again.
7/27/23 EDIT: Suspension.com definitely sent me 94 durometer urethane for this mount instead of the 60 that I ordered and after close to 1k miles it was still shaking the car to pieces. Has since been replaced by another new OE mount filled with Loctite Roof and Flashing sealant which is better for daily driving every aspect. Their screw up cost me $100, but the new mount is the best that's been in the car so far.
Replaced all the control arms, tie rods, lateral links and ball joints last weekend with as many greaseable parts as I could buy and got aligned today @ Forza. Car feels brand new again.

Haha I love greaseable things. Having 2 cars, I don't come anywhere near the 3k mile interval before needing to regrease things, but I do about every 6 months with Redline CV-2. Having one of those lock-n-lube attachments for my grease gun makes quick work of it.
The tC will be going away eventually if I can find the right buyer. The Taco is about ready to become the DD and I want to pick up an mk3 supra next to build up so I'll need the space in the garage.
Finally got a working copy of Techstream and was able to disable the seatbelt chime on this car (the method from the 1g does not work on the 2g). Wish it could disable the sunroof beep and key-in-ignition chimes too, but I'll take what I can get.
Installed smoked sequential side mirror led turn signals last night. Been searching to a setup like this since I got the car and finally found them. <3

Finally got everything I needed to replace my old switches with proper push button ones. They're a little yellower than the cluster but I'll take it, they look really clean. Every time I look at the 'vehicle fit' rocker switch it makes me angry lol.
The iJDMToy hatch LED module does not show that it fits the tC, but it's a full pnp upgrade for anyone looking. Been wanting a setup like this since I got the car, but it did not ever come up when searching for the 'tC'. Once I changed the search parameters to include different models this popped right up. I also have their license plate LED modules which are also super bright.
Well, been waiting 6+ years for someone to make pnp lower parking lights in amber for this car but nobody has, so I finally ripped mine apart and made them myself. They turned out fantastic and still connect to the factory harnesses for power with no splicing.

Appreciate it man. I think the newer generation has moved on to quicker solutions on fb nowadays. They need that instant gratification. The spam on here is also awful lately. I've messaged the admins but I don't think they care about the board anymore.
Was planning to get rid of this car this year, but recently decided I'll just keep it as it's a fantastic dd, already fully built up the way I want it, and it's paid off. Also aside from some wear items it's never had an issue. Kind of rekindled my want to modify this thing, hence the recent changes.

I'd partially agree with your first paragraph...Facebook has taken a ton of traffic from enthusiast forums of all kinds, I'm on several other car/truck and motorcycle forums and traffic has dropped a ton. You're left with the 'old school' folks who don't do Facebook and if you've ever tried searching for anything on Facebook, well, good luck. Marketplace...not bad for reaching a larger audience if you're looking to buy or sell but I avoid anything else over there. That, combined with a 'dead' brand, and a good portion of these cars coming up on 20 years old and it's just a natural progression. They're becoming less an enthusiast's platform and more cheap, reliable transportation and not attracting the same kind of audience they once did.
As far as spam, I can assure you that the Admins still care but when you have an account that spams thousands of threads it takes a while to get on top of that. I'm here almost every day and typically read all of the new posts to make sure everyone is 'behaving' but more because I like to see what everyone is posting about. I even try to be helpful now and then, for whatever that is worth.
And I will agree, you're got a very nice ride with some tasteful modifications. I like seeing people who modify with a common 'theme' in mind and especially when it is cleanly done, which yours definitely is.

I modded 6crew for a while (well, I think I'm technically a mod on there but it's been a while since I've signed in), and when we started getting spammed I was banning 20-50 accounts a day. It got old after a while. Anything we can do to increase the account creation security to slow it down, or does that come with big vbulletin fees?

I have some plans to freshen it up after summer is over (need that $ in case the house AC unit dies - kinda a big deal in AZ lol), but for now just doing small upgrades to recondition and modernize it a bit. Excited for post-summer plans though, can't wait to put this on some real wheels

Understand the A/C as I was born and raised in Tucson and spent 15 years in Phoenix before moving to CO 20 years ago...and I saw they finally broke ridiculous string of 110-degree plus days in Phoenix. Can't say I miss it and when it hits 90 here people lose their minds...glad I've got A/C here also and, amazingly enough, houses built 20+ years ago oftentimes didn't have A/C.

31 days in a row over 100 . The AC bill reflected it beautifully too, lol. November sounds about right. Thinking as long as I make it thru August I should be good to order some cool stuff. Already had to replace a 10yr old capacitor on my unit this summer so hoping that's the last of it.
