Default Goodbye scion tc.. I think

I am considering trading my scion tc (22mpg) and high insurance rates and not that luxurious. Considering a 13 chevrolet cruze LTZ fully loaded.. Really nice cars, not as sporty but yeah. I had my thrill. Time to move on, in talks now but nothing final yet.

Anyone own a cruze?

I dunno.. I'd take a huge loss.. ANY ideas how to fix 22mpg? i mean Wtf. this car sucks to me for that main reason. theres no reason why it should get that low.

i work as a technician and the cruze is a very popular car in my area so i have come across a lot of them, actually 3 of my co-workers own them (all female, all receptionists) and 2 of the 3 hate it and the other cant complain cause its not "hers"

my friends girlfriend owns one as well, says its junk, interior feels cheap and uncomfortable, engine "lags", and small rear seat if you plan on carrying passengers.

none of the above get close to rated MPG, all in upper 20s though and low 30 (my tC gets about 2

but then again, these are all people who own them, i havnt, only driven a couple

Thanks for the info. Will not get, though one thing is for sure. if a turbo stang comes out next year im trading. otherwise its the insurance/gas that i hate.

i did the math, 250 every 6 months cheaper for other cars, every other car including mustang. 2x a year = 500 a year, not too bad, but if i get 20-22mpg entire time. that adds up. i've gotten 19-22mpg all winter. its time for a change! man, i hope they go up as spring gets here.

wonder what could be causing your mpg to be so low though, mines usually like 27.6-28.6 weekly full to empty, 320mi/week or so. mines an auto (stock for now) and i use my car starter every morning to warm the car up so it sits at idle for 5-7min every morning

they do have a cruze turbo as well, dont know anyone with one though lol

They can be nice, and seem to do well on fuel consumption. But that's to be expected from a 1.6L engine.

There is a turbo diesel variant coming, but you're looking at $24k.

The UK is supposed to be getting a 4cyl turbo Mustang. I doubt they'll offer that stateside.

hey freedom.. have you tried not speeding? or mashing on the gas to get to speed? i used to get 21 MPG in my 6 speed.. now i cruise the majority of the time AT THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT and i don't go really fast to that limit... just kinda cruise it on up.. now i get 28-30 MPG depending on how much highway.. and those numbers have been stable for the past 20 tanks or more... 270 on a 12 gallon refill? im doing more like 330 on 12 gallons..

now that isn't anything special though, a 1.5l single cam civic from the 90's gets you 40+ MPG...

also, why would you want a turbo'd stang if the supercharged ones are sex on wheels!? and those are factory superchargers too!

This may come of a shock to you (as ive never posted this before) but I am a police officer lol. I don't speed, I always shift right at 2500rpm, I guess I can start to lower my shift points even more but as of now it barely doesn't lug as is accelerating. I travel 65 - 67 on highway. I drive 75-80% city, I rarely use remote start anymore to try to see improvements in gas.

just.. blah. It wouldn't be so bad if my insurance wasnt fricken 50 bucks extra Every month to offset the gas consumption. (it is a 13 model) how many years before it drops in value so my insurance drops too?. I am 22 years old >.<

I've had it as low as 240mpg 12 miles. Granted, for a long time I was driving in -30* temperatures short trips of 4-5miles.

agh, that's no good then.. i knew another tc owner with an automatic who just couldn't improve his MPG. with that said, have you checked our the new focuses (or is it focus's or focus' OR focii???? anyways) those things are sweet and are advertised as great gas savers.. and if you are looking for going ***** out, the ST trim level of the focus is a supercharged beast..

if i were to trade my tc for anything, it would be a new focus.. ford definitely won me over with that one..., but i love my tc and it's liftback design.. i'm a musician and have to carry my gear all the time and this tc does the job!

I have a fuelly account just to prove/to myself that my mileage is garbage.
Hoping for an increase but hasnt had any yet. 22mpg last 2 tanks. Could bad oil cause this much of a difference? I havnt had an oil change and dealership told me not too til 10k mileage.

yes, do not do it until 10k because full synthetic oil is the business, you will just be wasting your money AND usually MPG drops on the first tank of a fresh oil change.. no idea why, but that's what they say.. honestly, the only thing i could think of is your driving habits.. where do you live? it could have something to do with the altitude.. engine power drops the higher up you are..

Anchorage alaska, I think we are water level. I mean the waters not running over our border.

It is super cold though.

I have gotten 400 miles to the tank. Usually about 350-370 combined and I drive mine "spirited". You might want to shift a little higher. I heard it actually can hurt a car to shift to low. It bogs the engine. If try shifting around 3500 and maybe use your 5th gear around town in the 45 mph range. I have found that boosts mileage. Also, don't use cruise control. For some reason, my mileage drops when I use it. I use 87 octane btw. Also, I would think you would get better mileage in the cold because combustion works better in the cold, not heat. That's why they used to drag race at night. Warm roads for grip, cold air for combustion

I believe the Chevrolet Cruze comes with a complimentary vagina too. I'd never buy a car that is used as a rental.

There's a rumor that the 2014 Mazda3 will be a new body. 39 MPG HWY with the SkyActiv engine.

Because you are in Alaska and it is cold, do you guys have ethanol added to your fuel during the winter? If so, that will raise your consumption. Are your tires properly inflated? I get 20-22mpg city romping on it.
