Default Impatient!!

I put a down payment on a 2012 cement tC with 6 speed manual 2 weeks ago. The dealership was having a hard time finding me what I wanted. I was initially told "No problem, we can have one for you in a couple of days". I guess no dealerships would swap with them. After a week I called and tried to find out what was going on. They were throwing around the idea of sending someone from the dealership in western MA all the way to central PA, 3-400 miles to pick me up a car. I didn't want a new car with 400 miles on it!

Finally I got aggravated and hung up on the salesman (it didn't seem like he was trying all that hard to get me a car). He called back within an hour to say they found one at port in NY that they were having redirected from another dealership. It is supposed to arrive by the end of the week, but I wont hold my breath.

When I bought my 05, I could understand the delays in finding one considering the limited network of dealerships, but now? Are manual transmissions THAT tough to get? Anyone else have to wait 3 weeks?

I waited a month to get a hold of mine after putting down a deposit. Though, my salesman was good about it and kept me updated on everything. Plus, I had some factory installed stuff added to it at port so I guess that held things up a bit too.

As awesome as the FR-S sounds, I don't think I could do it. I own a home and it's my only vehicle. I always amaze myself the size things that I can fit in the good old tC. I've fit a 55 gallon aquarium, a new lawnmower in the box, a stand up dresser, wheelbarrow, 10 foot long pipes, drainage gutters, toilets, vanities, even a moped. I don't think I'd be able to give up the capacious hatch space. I am getting the 19 inch TRD rims as well as a spoiler. I'll be adding suspension upgrades, as well as other go fast goodies when I get it, so it should also be super fun to drive. The tC is a great compromise between practicality and fun.

In that case...did u consider making it easier on the dealership by asking for a cement tC2 with no options? and then just buy them later on (maybe cheaper) from places like TRDSparks.com. then install it later.

that way the dealership can just look for any manual cement tC2 near by

the only exception might be the TRD rims...if u have the space just get stock and order the rims later. that way u have 2 sets. if u get the car with TRD rims at the dealership, i dont think they give u the stock rims. in either case u pay (about) same price for the TRD rims.
...could be wrong, so can anyone else chime in?

Well, I got my Cement manual tC February of last year, but at that time there were a good amount of manuals at my dealership. Though it was at Longo, one of the largest Toyota dealerships in California. I would say at 2/5 of the tC's were manual at the time.

Also prepare to get second gear grinds, a number of us have them. People who have installed a short shifter and/or bushings seem to see an improvement over this problem. I just ignore the rough insert into second gear and shove it in anyways, but it gets scary in winter when you can actually feel the gears slightly rubbing against each other.

Personally, I have no idea why anyone would buy upgrades from the dealer if they don't give you your old stock stuff. If you buy the TRD rims online, then you could sell your stock rims and get quite a bit of your money back. This goes for most other options as well, except for spoiler/foglights. Which btw the spoiler and fogs can be had online for just over $100 each.

Yes, they are that hard to get. The dealer sent a guy to pick up a manual in Pennsylvania (~200 miles away) without my consent. I told them that I wouldn't buy that car. Ended up ordering the car exactly how I wanted it, but also waited for a month.

I had them order my car cause I didn't want the car they had on the lot. It had everything I wanted except it had the TRD rims I was not going to pay $2200 for. So they ordered mine and I got it 2 weeks later. Luckily for me I was able to get one out of the current shipment from the factory and they put all of the extras on there.

Another option below is a bit pricy. Check out Five Ad website. For $3700 you get the full aero kit painted, 5 spoke 19" wheels by Five Ad, tires are 19x8.5, 235x35R19 Yokos, TRD big brakes, Tein lowering springs. I clicked on the blue tC.

That would have tempted me over the RS 7. I think I would have bought the Sizzling Crimson Mica with all that on it it would have been awesome!!

Edit: I don't see the big brakes there?

There are no TRD Big brakes for $3700. You'll spend ~$1400 on those alone. And everything else on that list is overpriced. 330 for s-techs, wheels with no tires.

I don't know what the deal is. I had a dealership find me one and they told me it would take about 5 day because it was gone run through the weekend and he ended up calling me 3 days later saying it was there.
