My 2008 Scion tc
Hi everyone I hope there is someone out here who can help me... I have to do a head gasket change on my Scion tc and I've been YouTubing everything I've replaced so far my ignition coils spark plugs thermostat and now I'll be taking my engine apart to change all the gaskets and seals the reason is I started out with my garage for my temp going crazy then I was told fill up the radiator and get bubbles out (note heater didn't blow hot ) i changed thermostat and still doing same thing
so I could have bad heating coil .... now after that I got check engine light read 0P301 and 0P302 misfiring I. Cylinder 1&2 so I changed all 4ignition coils and spark plugs yes I gaped the spark plugs and when I put it all together it seemed fine and started misfiring again to make a long story short I did all the trouble shooting I could and now its replacing the gasket ....any thing I should know before I take apart ...like do I need to drain it first the oil ? I removed the radiator and condenser and I also replaced the crankshaft position sensor

Mods can this be moved to the 1g forum?
Why do you think you need to replace the head gasket? It's a pretty serious repair. Is there oil in your coolant or is your oil milky or are you just chasing an erratic cooling system and misfiring issue? Did you drive it while it was overheating for an extended period of time or did it just overheat once? Nothing in your post screams that you need the head gasket will fix your issue so I'm just wondering where that is coming from.

Let me just say I am at the point where I have taken every thing completely off the engine I'm testing the fuel injectors but I have got close and personal with my car but what I need to know is do I need to take the camshaft apart to get to the head or do I just need to take the long bolts out and lift it off the head gasket? 2 questions the timing chain what am I look for on the chain and the garage's to make sure it is lined up before I remove it ? That's were I'm at right now so help would great thanks
