I was thinking the same thing however I'm almost positive that the assembly is one large piece so I would really need to see how I could fit it also maybe repositioning the ***** if possible to be inline from top to bottom not side to side

Hey everyone just as an update my now ex-girlfriend and I broke up so videos are on hold because my editing software is on her computer. So I can do mini videos with my phone and iMovie software on it but it's all I can do for now everyone. But I'll still try and make things happen cuz I don't want to let anyone down

something i seem to search and not get much info on is adding a reverse camera or installing the alpine video input kit the right way for the first time for it to work correctly... just an idea, i did the reverse camera but yet doesnt work, and also ordering the kit but what seems to be the problem is the wiring that comes with the kit is wrong.

if i remember correctly its either the video input OR reverse camera, you cant have both. and i think that the reverse camera is also another thing the dealerships didnt connect if you upgraded, just like the usb, have you takin out to check to see if its connected?

My car came stock with the hu and it didnt have a reverse camera I brought one and installed it, yet doesnt come on at all also tried a dvd player didnt come on at all. From what I could find out so far from reading people install the hu in 2008 it has to have a kit which has unclear directions. I asked the dealer yet they do not know and once I receive my video bypass ill try it, but just wanted a vid to follow and be exact the first time

I don't really have access to that right now so I couldn't do the reverse light install. If someone is in the bay area and willing to do it then I could go from there. Might do a suede headliner install after the hvac repositioning

Directions on that kit suck. I did the video a while back, so I'll do a quick install for the video cable tonight. I didn't care about the back-up camera, so I can give you the basics, but you'll still have to do some experimenting (ie -where to run the wire, looking to see the best place to attach the reverse sensor wire thingy...)

My guess is your problem with the DVD is the e-brake indicator. To keep you from driving while watching videos, the kit has an e-brake indicator. If the e-brake isn't on, no video. It's just a ground wire, so all you have to do is attach it to a ground near the HU. I think I found the details on an xB forum (they've used the same Alpine HU for a couple years now).

open up the trunk, pop out the tab, then just twist the sockets
