Default New on the block

Purchased a 2016 Scion tC about 6 months ago and I'm absolutely loving it! I got the 6-speed manual, and then a few months later purchased a TRD cold air intake and TRD exhaust. The stuff wasn't cheap, but thankfully I'm able to do most mechanical work myself. I'm definitely in the market to do some performance upgrades to my vehicle, but unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable about the field. I'm not looking to totally trick out my vehicle, but I definitely want to improve its performance. Any suggestions I could get from the community would be much appreciated!

Is the TRD cold air intake an actual cold air intake? I ask because a lot of the cold air intakes that I have seen online look nothing like the TRD cold air intake...

Hello Koopsta! Welcome to SL!

Yes, the TRD CAI is a true Cold Air Intake.

It is the only one Specifically Engineered by Toyota for our cars.

All the other ones are imitations that look different so as to not infringe on TRD's Patents.

A lot of them are Problematic and can give you CEL Codes.

They can also Deny you Warranty Service for Non-Scion Parts.

The TRD CAI is the only Legit Intake Sold, Authorized, Serviced and Approved by Toyota/Scion
