Default RS7 key issue

So this has happened to me on two occasions. The first time was about two months ago. I walk/run (it was raining) up to the door and open the car, it does the standard beep indicating the doors are unlocked. Get in and step on the brake, the start button illuminates to green. I press the button and the car acts like it has started, the radio comes on, the gauges begin to move, but the car does not start. So i repeat the process with the same results. So i get inside and read the manual, but get no info. I grab the spare key and go out to the car and it works. The second time it has happened was this afternoon. Walk up to the car, push the button but the engine does not fire. The different this time is that I don't have the spare key. I get out and walk out of the remote range and then go and try to start it with no success. After repeating the process about four times it finally starts up.

Has anyone had any of these problems so far? The first time it did this I took it to the dealer and they said that it may just be the remote acting up and did nothing about it. The only thing that I can think of is that it may be the leather holder that Scion sent out to the RS owners, but I don's see why it would do this. Anyone got any suggestions?

have you checked on those occasions if the wheel lock is activated? cause in my case it happened once that I couldn't start the car and I kinda got scared but I turned the wheel a bit and then it started. You could also try changing the remote's batteries if you haven't tried that yet...

I really did not pay attention, I will try that next time and change out the batteries. Thanks

Sorry for not being helpful, I've never had this problem but am interested in seeing the outcome.

Its the first time that happens to me and i have the car little over a month. I had another tc2 for over 17 months and never had that issue

I just got back from a trip to the beach and I did it while I was down there. I did what javi suggested and turned the wheel a little bit. It started right up, I got worried for a second because I thought that moisture had gotten into the remote, but it was just because the steering wheel was locked. Hopefully that is what the issue is.

It has never happened to me twice ever since I found out that it was the steering wheel lock, so I guess it's that.

like javi said. if the steering wheel lock doesnt release then it wont start. just like cars with regular keys, sometimes you gotta move to steering wheel to unlock, otherwise the key wont turn. thanks for the info i was getting worried already.
javi soy de guaynabo pero del campo, no de guaynabo city.lol
