Default Sad day

Nice rainy day.... Just so happen to go thru an intersection where a little puddle had formed. The car bogged down and sputtered a little bit ... Then cut off and wouldnt start back up. Any one have a clue.... I searched and found something about hydro locking. I'm sure that's not the case. I only have a short ram. Is there any way to check this before takin it to the dealership.

That sux did you have a hydro shield on your intake? Also before you take it to the dealer install your oem intake system back on the car! I have no idea what else it could be

No hydro shield because I didn't think water could get that high... It's not like I took it for a swim. Yeah it freakin sucks.

WOW! So sorry to hear that bro. I guess if enough water spashed up into the engine bay, it could be hydro locked.

Definitly put your stock intake back on before you go to the dealer....

Other option would be an electrical fault...

go back to stock and hope your dealer is slow and in need of a good warranty job! Although scion is pretty good with warranty issues especially with the tc1.....

Seems unlikely that it's hydro-locked unless the water was deeper than you're letting on.

Since when? I sure couldn't get them to fix my water pump even though it's known they fail prematurely.

Update... Dealer wouldn't cover it. Because of the intake. I couldn't switch it back, I think the stock one got thrown out. My insurance covered it. Water got into the motor and bent the rod. The total was about 5,800 to fix. I can't wait to see my next insurance statement. Well at least it's getting fixed.... Should be done by next week.

That must have been one hell of a puddle to get into a short ram. Sorry to hear that man.

The lesson learned by all of us is: dont throw out your stock parts untill your warranty is up.

I wanted to see pic of said puddle, even then if I'm familiar with the area I avoid those locations of possible high water. Keeping your stock parts should be a given, but most get tossed for reasons IDK, then you'll see WTB threads of stock parts. At least you have the expenses covered by somebody, let us know if anything changes on that insurance.
