As the topic suggest, I wonder if you just keep it in D mode or try to drive like a MT.

 

i only do that when im racing lol. or just installed a new performance part to see how it runs.

 

I rarely use the shift mode. I hate how the transmission still freely downshifts...I feel like it's almost a complete waste of time because I don't have anywhere near full control of the transmission.

I admit though, I do use it sometimes when I'm in a parking lot and want people to think I have a manual. I'll accelerate moderately, let go of the gas, shift into the next gear, and accelerate again. It actually sounds pretty convincingly "manual" lol.

I leave my car in D. Why would you wanna try and convince people you have a manual when you don't? It's not like people will care anyways and if you do that in front of some car guys you might get a few laughs.

 

Oh yea down shift a couple of time when on the road but the transmission still takes control witch i hate but i done that a time or 2

 

my buddy use to do that is his old gen tc,to a point where he was so addicting he couldn"t stop doing it,he even moved his left foot as if there was a clutch there,then he got in mine and he said this feels so kool driving a real stick nothing like what ive been doing

 

ive done that a time or two with my left foot lol. im about to do a swap hopefully soon just trying to get all the parts together then i can really shift like i have a MT

 

I do! Only on the highway though, to pass some people ;)

 

In preparation for passing someone on the highway I'll shift into 4th gear, and I also use it for engine-braking here & there. Normally I just leave it in D, which suits my efficient, plan-ahead driving style just perfectly. I'm also not trying to continually impress people by accelerating and decelerating like a jack rabbit.

 

I've seen people downshift and come to a deadstop at the lights just to get attention. Gets even more annoying when they have the loudest fartcan ever.

 

^ does our exhaust qualifies as a fartcan? Lol, I don't know how it sounds on the outside but it's pretty deep from the inside of the car. (I have all stock)

 

He's talking about those cheap mufflers that kids grab at autozone to make their car sound really loud and crappy. Very popular with the Honda kids.

I've done it to my mom Sunfire, but that was when I had just gotten my licence, because I really wanted a stick. I blew 2 engines doing that stuff, neutral drops and other stupid sh*t.. I was 16 I feel justified..

 

Only to downshift. I feel like manual upshifting on a auto is bad.

I do it, ALL THE TIME. i did it when i first got my exhaust so i could sound like i had a manual lol.. i even lift my foot off the gas between "shifts" to make it sound more like a manual. And between first and second gear it even rocks the car slightly like a manual does, its very lame but its become such a bad habbit lmao.

I have fooled a lot of people, but the people who actually look in my car are like "hmm it's an auto..?"

One day i dream to actually have a manual so i dont have to be a poser
