Trade for Ford Focus ST?
i remember the 2003 ford focus was like driving on a pile of bricks. I hope that they improved their interior comfort and ride?
Is it quick?
The new trubo'd focuses look kind of cool.

The answer to your question is...yes. If the Focus ST is good enough for Jeremy Clarkson, it's good enough for me.
Having a factory turbo would make it that much easier to get more power out of it too. Plug a piggy-back into the ECU and you've got extra power with minimal other parts.

I prefer coupes tbh, but i was going to get a mazdaspeed 3 before i got my tC because I finally wanted a turbo'd car. but the thing was so uncomfortable and the clutch pedal was a little retarded for a beginner like me so I went with the tC instead.
The turbo'd focus ST (i think 2012 or 2013) looks super cool and quick for a 5 door hatch.

Any updates on anyone switching?
I'm seriously going to go test drive one soon. I should be able to trade my '11 in for a new '14 ST and keep my same monthly payments.
If you just google Focus ST, you'll see literally every authority gives this car an amazing review. I mean, come on...252 hp and 270 ft/lb of torque for around 22 grand?...what's not to love about this car?? The interior quality blows ours away and the Recaro seats are kick ___. Comes with wider and better tires too.
As someone mentioned above, throwing a Cobb Stage 1 on this car is cheap and makes the car more fun to drive. It also makes the turbo/blow-off sounds louder as well...actually sounds pretty sick.
The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the exhaust note. Every aftermarket exhaust clip I found for the ST sounds really "ricey", so I probably wouldn't upgrade any part of the exhaust past the downpipe.

if you are worried about rice then just buy an older mustang(or camaro if chevy is your thing) and build that up. definitely could get everything done for less than 20K and could get 400+HP by building a V8 engine, getting a new trans. 1999-2004 mustang should easily be able to do that for you.
However if you want to trade for a daily then focus might be a great bet. leave the mustang for a weekend car

My issue is that I don't want to buy a used car. I'm also not in a position to own two cars so whatever car I buy needs to be comfy enough to be a DD...which reviews say the ST is. Camaros are super played out (way too many poser V6 ones floating around) and I'm just not a big Mustang guy...respect them, but just not for me.
The ST is comfortable, is a blast to drive, has lots of power, a sweet turbo intake note, and still gets 32 mpg. It's a no brainer...at last for me.

If no room for second car, then go Focus ST.
Although i read that people do DD built mustangs/camaros, it is better to not risk it and leave such cars for weekend fun haha.
Have you figured out how much you'll get upon trade-in for the focus? I'd trade in for an FRS/BRZ if it wasn't $5K+ more haha. But i have become attached to my tC
Let us know how the test drive goes!

Honestly, I'm just going to walk in and tell them the following:
1. Take my tC
2. Give me a 2014 ST
3. Keep my monthly payments the same (around 250)
I only have about 5k equity in my car right now so it could be a tough squeeze. However, if they want it bad enough...they'll make it work. It probably all won't happen in the first visit to the dealer and that's fine...I gotta play hard to get :-D.

Cars depreciate its what they do. Modify yours and make it your own. Sure having all that power and and warranty is great but eventually the warranty goes away anyways.
Awd > fwd. Wrx has a little more hp with little less torque. 0-60 is faster and 1/4 is faster. Whats there to think about? I guess I shouldnt say pants. Its not a far stretch but the wrx will win.
