Default Water leaking into passanger cabin

So I got home from work the other day and looked over and saw water on the passenger side floor, looked for something that had spilled and upon further investigation saw the water was dripping from inside the dash onto the floor

I ended up getting it fixed at the dealership, they did it for free even though my warranty is over with, they cleared the drain hose and installed an air cabin filter

I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I've had some water drip on my foot every now and then on a 1500 mile trip. Somehow condensation formed on the HVAC box under the dash and dripped on my foot.

Haven't had that exact problem, but after heavy rain I get water stuck somewhere near my hatch or rear. When the car's swaying from turns or bouncing, I can hear the water juggling back and forth... Never took the time to locate where exactly though.

Yup... Clogged drainage hose. Haven't you ever had this on previous cars?

Do u think its the condensation from the a/c? My old truck would do that but I haven't experienced it with my tc yet

The problem you experienced is caused by the fact that the TC does not come from the factory with a cabin air filter. Any leaves, debris, dirt, dust, etc comes in through the outside fresh are duct, into your blower motor, and directly to the bottom of the heater box, where the drain hole is. Every other Toyota vehicle comes with a cabin filter above the blower motor to catch all that crap.

Installing the cabin filter will keep anything from getting down and clogging the drain tube again. TSB was issued regarding this a month or two ago.

Funny - I just had mine in for an oil change at Firestone and they said that the cabin air filter was missing. I thought maybe the last shop had taken it out and forgotten to install it.

Back to the op - did you take it in and get the drain blown out yet?

Yes had it fixed the next day after I noticed, it was about a 1/2 bottle of water on my floor it wasn't just a little leak. It was also was very humid that week, I brought it to the dealership and they blew it out and installed cabin filter

Think I also recall the dealership saying they issued something about this recently too

Under neath the carpet on the passenger side floor board near the center console, is an A/C evap drain line. They clog easy. It takes about 5 minutes to clear the clogged line. I just shoved a screw driver thru the hose and problem solved. Compressed air will work too.

Great info on the cabin filter, wish I read this earlier. Only had my tC 2 months before I noticed water on my passenger floor. The dealer said there was a clog in the drain hose, no charge. Told me do not park by any pine trees. Had it back 2 other times for same problem. I made a filter outside the air intake opening with some screen and a piece of decorative hvac register cover. I attached it with some two sided sticky foam tape. It did the trick, but will have cabin filter installed next oil change.
