What rpm does our 2.5 get best mpg?
Anyone have an exact figure out what rpm our vehicle optimally runs at? In example,
(Making numbers up)
Car is traveling 35mph,
2nd gear is 4000
3rd gear is 2500
4th gear is 2000
5th gear is 1600
Reason I ask, is because I read online that other 4 cylinders run best at like 1750rpm, but if someone here truly knew the optimum rpm level for fuel mileage I'd like to know. Not for speed reasons
Thanks.

I get around 29-30 average mpg and most of my time i spend in between 1,000rpms and 2,500 rpms for both cruising and shifting up from first gear. I do shift at about 3,000 rpm in the lower gears though to avoid the rev hang or w/e its called.

there really isn't an rpm that's going to give you the best gas mileage. it really depends on the load that's put on the engine as well as aerodynamics of the car. I will say between 55 and 59mph in top gear will net you the best mpg.
