Default Windows Freezing Shut?

Does anyone else have this problem? My windows freeze shut and wont come undone for a good 5 minutes of trying to get them down. It only started this winter and I am not sure why. I got the passenger one down but I was trying the drivers side one and the motor seemed to stop working and took some time to work again. I will call the dealer and see what they can do but I wanted to know if anyone experienced this on their tC and how it was dealt with. Thank You :-)

I've had them freeze after the snow melts and refreezes around the gasket. Only takes a warm up and the defroster to fix though...

yeah mine rarely freezes on very cold days. it's annoying.
I had the same issue on my 99 eclipse before it's window motors failed.
But our cars are new so i don't see why the motors will fail soon. just don't force anything so that you do not break it. warm up your car properly and eventually the frost will melt, freeing your window.

your dealer will likely say it's normal and there is nothing they can do for you. but if you want you can give it a shot. tell us what they actually say.

Two tricks you can try that has worked for other people.

1: Clean windows with rain-x brand window cleaner. This puts a coat of rain-x on the glass which helps repel the water before it freezes.

2: Coat rubber and felt with silicon grease (spray type). Just spray on a rag and rub it on to prevent mess. Try not to get it everywhere. Look for silicon grease that states it is ok to use on rubber. This will help shed the water before it has a chance to freeze. It will also makes your window go up faster because of the lowered resistance against the rubber.

Those two things in combination should go a long way toward solving your problem.

The motor will stop working if it senses too much resistance as a fail safe, I believe. It has to do with child safety. They designed them that way to keep kids from getting their head and neck stuck between frame and window. The ice is simulating that situation.
