MightyP has been trying to buy one from me, but I've been extremely busy and haven't been able to set that up for him. Sorry, P! I know it's been a couple months, however things aren't going to settle down until mid-January.

I didn't end up getting a custom exhaust made. At this point, the car is making too much power for the stock internals. So, I don't want to chance it.

As for parts lying around, I have the TRD 19" wheels, stock 18" wheels, a brand new Turbonetics ball bearing turbocharger (my other one blew the seals and they sent me a new one), TRD axleback exhaust, and Descendant catback exhaust (claimed by MightyP if I get off my ___ and send it to him).

Thanks! I heard its a bit difficult to get an M/T. Or, at least it was.

When I bought mine in March, they only had A/T's. I just told them I won't be making a purchase unless it was a Nautical Blue Metallic M/T. They found one about 300 miles away and in a couple days it was mine.

As for the build, modding has been put on hold until the summer. At this point, I'm not sure if I want to go with full suspension parts (coilovers, x-brace, 3-point strut bar, underbrace, trunk brace, etc.) or find a company to either make or sell me some pistons, rods, studs, etc. and have the car break 500 whp with a built bottom end.

I feel like the latter will be more costly and put my only car out of commission for a couple months while the work is being done.

I had the exact same experience.
Only A/T's avail at the dealer, and I told them the same you did.
They found the only one in Cali at the time and I got it 2 days after.
And you are right, it's extremely difficult to find M/T's.
About your build, I'm in love with it!
Coincidentally I'm heading the same direction as you but I'm way behind you in mods up to this point.
My target is also 500 WHP, but I think that we will need to drastically beef up the drivetrain.
Again your project rules!

I wanted to have the feeling of my car being new, so I didn't let the driver put miles on it. Had to order it nautical blue m/t. It seems that its the rarest combination.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I've only had maybe 3 used cars in my life, and every experience was a poor one. So, to avoid issues with modification, starting brand new was ideal. No rusted out fittings, bolts, or stripped threads that need to be replaced etc.

After driving my rental the way I do, I suggest that no one buy a used car. Lol.

Default Engine Blown.

Yep, blew something on the freeway this morning running at about 18 Psi. Shop will be pulling the engine out and going to see what they can do. If it's salvagable, the built bottom end is coming sooner than I had planned.

Sad day.

Noooooooo! Say it's not true . But at the same time I'm learning a lot from your thread so when I get boosted I'll know what to do. Can't wait to see the results.

Yeah... I got impatient and bought a new Descendant exhaust.

Anyway, sorry to hear about you're motor. Have you tried Brian Crower for the engine parts? They told me about s week ago they don't have anything for the tC2, but they made a lot for the tC1. I don't have the leverage to really push the development, but with your build, you might.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I'll take one of the exhausts off of your hands, if you can PM me the price. I assume your busy since your car is in the shop and what not, and I'm not in a rush to buy either. I'd still like to know the prices on the parts your selling if you get a chance.

So, no update on what exactly went wrong. However, my mechanic and Kareem from Descendant are very sure its one or more of the piston ring lands.

I've already decided no matter what the cost, I'm going to build the bottom end and get the car running again. It's cheaper than buying a new car and I've grown to love that car.

In addition to the engine build, these came in today.

photo3.jpg?t=1325976918

photo4.jpg?t=1325976831

photo5.jpg?t=1325976919

That's the news for now. Will probably be a 3 month build or so. Until then, my girlfriend and I are sharing her car.

Nothing that makes me rich. I've just saved money and made some smart decisions with purchases over the past 10 years or so. A credit card helps, too.
