Default Lowering Spring installation questions!

I know I should call around and get some price quotes but...everyones closed Sunday and I want to try to get some quick answers. I'm thinking about lowering with either h-techs or s-techs. Can't decide if s-techs are too low for me or not. Wish I could see them in person.

But anyway, my question is how much should I expect to pay for installation on the springs? I've seen the video of installing them and I want to try...but I've never worked on cars before. As I said I would love to try but I don't think I'm willing to on my first new car.

What do you guys think I should do?

You will have issues with negative camber if you go with the S-Techs. And you need to rent a spring compressor. Try to find a friend who has done it before, it will make the process easier.

page 3 is my black Tc on S-Techs, I recommend H-Techs or TRD springs personally.
Ride is a bit harsh on S-Techs and I have a lot of issues with front end scrub on inclines.
Also you will need to search for it, but there is a thread with a how to on installing any brand springs. Trick is to FOLLOW the TRD instructions which are also linked in the how to thread. The springs have to be aligned properly. They are not hard to install, but extremely dangerous if you do not use proper tools and care.
Edit; Found thread for you. It has an install video on page 1 and the trd install instructions linked on page 2.

Install is pretty easy and only things you need besides normal hand tools are a breaker bar (or some other way to break loose the knuckle bolts) and a spring compressor. And you can borrow a spring compressor from Advance Autoparts. Just go in, tell them you want a spring compressor from their tool loan program, and they'll have you put about a $50 deposit down. You'll get it back when you return it.

Watch PapaBear's video, it's very helpful and if you can get a friend who's done it before to help, all the better. But it really is pretty easy to do.

Oh, and I have H-techs, but if I were to do it again, I'd get the Eibachs. Either the Prolines (about the same as H-techs) or sportlines (about the same as S-Techs) but with better spring rates.

Thanks for the responses guys!
I think you guys convinced me that H-techs would be my best option. I don't want to deal with any of those rear camber problems. I think I want the H-techs over the Eibachs because they level out the rear with -0.9 and -1.2 drop since the rear is slightly higher. I like the look of that. And it looks pretty good on your car MightyP.

Thanks Blackedout011TC for that video. It makes it look easier than it probably is haha oh and that NIA splitter looks great on your car!

jeremydoc - I would definitely have you do it but seeing as you're in California and I'm in Iowa...yes Iowa haha I don't think we could probably work anything out.

YW bud and thanks, good luck with it. BTW the camber issue is not a spring specific problem. It's got do with manufacturing tolerances, namely Scion's. -3 degrees camber is not harmful as long as you keep up with tire rotation. Negative camber increases traction for hard cornering, it is not really a problem. I just wish both sides matched!

I apologize for the thread revival but I'm trying to track down prices on installs of springs. I am not allowed to do any work in my apt complex parking lot so I need somewhere to install them or someone to do it for me. I am ordering TRD springs and the stealership said $920 for install and alignment? That sounds really high. I've installed lift kits on trucks before so I am fairly comfortable doing this type of work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know plenty of places here in CA who will install align for <$300.

I wish I was in Cali...well kinda sorta not really. But I had a member on here PM me a location in Dallas that will install for $250. I knew my dealership was WAY overpriced on their labor rates.
