Scion pro tc2 coil overs
Im sponsored by scion pro im in contact with steve Saporito an were looking into making scion pro tc2 coil overs i need your feed back on what you guys think eould tou buy them what color they should b stuff like that responses could b good for you guys an get discount on them Need to have have at least 20 buyers
*Editing this since 2tCornot2Tc has an issue with opinions. So the following goes IF I WAS INTO THE WHOLE HELLAFLUSH/HELLASUNK I Would want..." or "the following is posted speaking for the hellaflush/hellasunk crew"
1. 20+ dampening force adjustment
2. ability to pick the spring rate for front and back
3. atleast a 2.5" drop front and back
4. adjustable plate for chamber purposes
4a. pillowball if possible
5. crazy colors tired of looking at generic silver, or black and gold (BC) and green (TIENs), something in neon that you can see through the spoke of the wheels of the car
6. fully rebuildable cuz when you bottom them out and blow them, it be nice to be able to rebuild them
7. height adjustment via bottom mount to retain full damper travel.
8. preloaded and custom valving provided by scionpro.
I have a set of BC coilovers for the SE-R, I bought them from 2J-Racing. I spoke to them, told them what I wanted out of the car, told them what I needed, how high and how low I wanted, how big of a gap, etc. I did this to just be able to plug and play since the winter was around the corner and I didnt want to loosen the lower ring to adjust the height and 2J-Racing did that for me, they had a B15u platform in the shop, the installed them in the platform they had, to adjust the preload, and the height, the dampening and they upgrated all the valving. Great service. and I still paid under 1000.00 shipped to my door and they provided camber plates, and a great warranty.
Thats what I would like to see from ScionPro. NOT to imitate 2J-Racing, but If ScionPro could do that, it will be amazing since they can literally guide you and provide expert opinion on how you should run your coils depending on your driving habit.

AFFORDABLE PRICING
With all of the coilovers currently out and coming out it's hard to differentiate one from another. Most desireable features have been covered by other coilovers, best thing to do now is be price competitive

Because you make this statement, we now know that you are not planning on tracking your car nor are interested in the handling of the car and know absolutely nothing about suspension design.
Why? You want at least a 2.5” drop and completely destroyed the suspension geometry of the car that any adjustment you try to make will do absolutely nothing. A waste of money in this case.
Again, what is the use if you’ve just destroyed the suspension to get a 2.5” drop? Neither you nor 99.987% of the people on this forum would be able to choose the proper spring rates…
You will need that!
Yes! All show and no go...
Because you don’t know what you are doing…just more proof.
Again…what is the point? Just a lot of money for something you don’t know what to do with.

People get so hung up on damping adjustment. Even on very nice dampers, those adjustments are typically not linear, so getting 20 instead of 16 just means you need to move it more clicks before it makes much difference anyways
Plus 99.99% of people dont know what they are doing with the adjustments, and the single adjusters most times cause a not so great adjustment on one of the two motions.
For the tC2, you probably want about 3 options for springs (and this is assuming the setup is built for better handling, not cheapass slam it coilovers for shows):
A soft setup (probably around 180ish front, 330ish rear, but the math would need to be done to get it right).
A medium setup (probably about 200ish front, 400ish rear)
A hard setup (think 400F and 600R tops for a street car)
Dont let people pick their own rates other than that, or you end up with too many parts to stock, and likely a lot of people making horrible decisions on their setup and saying its the coilovers fault.
Set the damping rate for each setup. If you must offer adjustable, at least have dampers as good as koni (even their adjustors have been shown to be non linear) or something similar.
Offer them with or without camber plates/pillow ball mounts. That way, people who actually realize they really dont need the additional stiffness of pillowball mounts and dont want the additional harshness that goes with them can choose to use their stock top hats.
Use good springs and some torrignton bearings would be nice under each spring.. but at least just using decent springs.
But, I dont even know if the person that started this thread is legit or just talking to hear himself talk .... but it is a fun subject to talk about. I would just like to see more options out there for regular cars that are actually built for good handling setups, not all show and no go. There are tons of cheapass low quality slam it yo coilovers. No need for more of those.

But none of that is affordable in the sense most on here are thinking of. You really do get what you pay for in suspension parts, and even a $1500 set of coilovers is mediocre .. a bit better than that if you know how to set the car up with them. Coilovers are mostly a waste for a car that will never be set up properly anyways unless they are just for slamming ...
Huh? They sit n the same place either way. Coilovers mount int he exact same centerline as your regular springs. The math for motion ratio and spring rates is the same. Your stock spring and damper setup is no different than a coilover (coil spring over strut) in the way it mounts. thus, the motion ratio of near .98 for front macstrut and between .5 and .6 rear double wishbone (numbers for a tc1 but likely very close to a tc2) will be the same. This and the weight split+some measure of sanity for the street comes out pretty close to the numbers I just posted. If you would like I can show you where my coilovers are mounted in the same holes as the struts that came off the car.
You also dont just go by motion ratio alone to pick rates. There is more to consider, like loading on the corners of the car. You have much more weight in the front, so you dont run twice the spring rate in the rear just due to the mr. Somewhere between 40% - 70% more in the rear tends to work with this type of setup. Closer to 50% on the street.
Hey 2tCornot2Tc and engifneer:
You guys are 100% correct and I stand corrected, I do not know anything about suspension nor do I pretend to know anything about it. I guess the opinions comes from me saying "I would like to see..." but I guess I should had written "due to the whole car seen shifting to hellaflush/hellasunks, for those that want to go that route, it be nice to see (for those guys)...."
I do agree with you guys about your statements, that is why I have a TRD suspension (strut and springs) on the TC and I am sure you guys will agree that my set up is more than appropriate for my TC and coils are a waste of money, for a product that I would not know how to adjust, and ontop of that the TRD springs and struts are more than enough for a daily driven car that is not tracked. My commute is 12 miles one way.
Now the question is "why did you get coil overs on the Sentra for?!"
the sentra suspension was blown, it bounced like a chick's butt in a hip-hop video. So i could had just gotten yellow kon and springs for 300 and called it a day, but I didnt want to go with a product that ultimately I did not know how it will ride in the sentra.
I called 2J-Racing and told them "i dont want my sentra to feel like a go Kart, I DO NOT WANT TO BE HELLAFLUSH OR HELLASUNK, I dont want it bouncy, I want it to feel like a normal car when I go with my friends and family to the store to get milk and bread. I want it to ride smooth on the highway, and I dont want to feel every bump on the road.
They are professionals and they adjusted every setting for me. If it wasnt for them I would have no clue, (as 2tCornot2Tc stated). So I bought them because of confident that I would get a ride that will not bounce, will ride smoothly and I would not have problems in the near future. I could had just bought springs and struts like in my Tc, but I had no way to review products since the people in the B15U forum are aholes. So I trusted a company (2J-Racing) with their advice and bought them.
Hope this clarifies my statement. Thanks guys.
FYI my sentra is lowered by 1" in the front and .7" in the back. Car drive straight and I am happy with the product.

When one of the first criteria is how much a car is lowered, then handling is not your first concern…it’s not even your last concern. In fact, when a car is lowered that massive amount, there is nothing that you can do to that suspension to restore even the stock handling characteristics…so, to lower your car, all you need is a hacksaw or a cutting torch. I’ve even seen people use a welding torch to just heat up the coils until the car drops. You’re done! You’ve accomplished what you’ve set out to do…lower your car at any cost (handling in this case). You might think it looks nice, but you’ve just made a POS out of that car. And here is where I just don’t understand…you are sold a suspension kit to lower your car. You can accomplish that by just going to a fly-by-night muffler shop, give him $40 to heat up your springs and you are finished! You’ve just lowered your car any amount you want. You can even permanently hard park it at this point. Why pay the $1500…or even a $1000?
So, how much can you lower the tC? Already asked and answered here…

How do you setup a coilover suspension? Already asked and answered here…

I’ve already done that here…

a massive improvement BTW.

Hey 2tCornot2Tc i'm not getting you at all, you are stuck on the idea that I bought coilovers to lower a car, and to improve handling. But I did not buy the coilovers to lower the car or to improve handling.
please note that I dont care about slaming my cars at all. I think it is not practical at all. I like driving my cars and even the TRD drop which is like 1.5 inch is anoying because I cant even go into certain driveways. Thats why I only lowered the sentra less than 1" and the Tc has TRD struts and springs.
I guess you are stuck on the fact that on my original post I said "GO LOW LOW LOW" but I tried to clarify that by saying that I was speaking for the hellaflush hellasunk guys.
You have lowering springs on your car. I have lowering springs on my Tc. and I have less than 1" drop on my sentra. It seems that your car is lower more than both of mine. I bought a coilover system for a sentra for road feel. I didnt want to feel every bump, and the coilovers have eliminated the road feel. Yes I could had gotten that from regular strut and springs but sue me, yes I spent 1000.00 on something I could had just bought for 300 (as I did with my Tc). My tc suspension was less than 450.00 new. So I over spent on my sentra. so be it.
not sure why you keep saying that I messed up the handling of the car (I am assuming you are talking about the sentra) since i guess lowering the car 1" means that it will handle like hell. I dont care if it handles like hell at this point. All I care about is that I dont feel the road at all. Feel as if i'm just gliding on the road (on the sentra). I feel more of the road on the Tc than I do the sentra. Thats all I care about. The sentra has less than 54K miles on it for a 2003 I never drive it cuz of the road feel. so it was parked until the suspension could had been upgraded. Now I drive the sentra more than the tc because it feels better.
I dont autocross any of the cars, I dont beat them or race them. I dont care about that stuff. All that matters to me is how the road feels and how bumpy it is.
and ultimately we have similar set ups, you have lowering springs (TRD) on OEM struts. I have TRD struts and TRD springs on the Tc. and I have 1" dropped on the sentra (regardless that I have coilovers). Again it seems your car is a bit lower than my cars, so why do you keep acting as if I am an idiot for slamming my car? my cars are not slam! Your post are getting to the point that they imply that I cannot do anything about my horrible handling and that is what I get for being an idiot for slamming cars. But yet non of my cars are slammed. Feels as if you keep giving me a lecture for something I dont have nor do I want. I was speaking for the hellaflush/hellasunk movement, because those options will benefit them, not me.
and please there is no need to say my car or another car is a POS. I know everyone is entitle to their opinion but I dont see why you have to be disrespectful and say that the car is a POS.
thanks 2tCornot2Tc, car looks nice by the way. Like your Lexus calipers.

In post #3, item #3, you say “atleast a 2.5" drop front and back”…I took that on face value. Yet, you only drop 1”…you say one thing, yet do another. I’m confused! I was answering the 2.5” drop. My car is on TRD springs…1” drop front and rear. It may look lower only because its got 255/35ZR19s…
Thanks...
Thanks...
lol ok I'm going to edit Post #3 and say "IF I WAS INTO THE WHOLE HELLAFLUSH/HELLASUNK I Would want..." or updated to say "the following is posted speaking for the hellaflush/hellasunk crew.
your a pit ready to strike at whoever post something you dont agree with...your quick to point out when people are "wrong" thats not a good quality to have in life, it wont get you far trust me...
and whats wrong with me saying “atleast a 2.5" drop front and back” its better to be able to do it, IF needed, than one day say "i wish I could go lower" then need to change your whole suspension set up to just go low.
just because someone buys coilovers doesnt mean they have to be slam, someone could buy coilovers like me, and just lower then car 1 inch. Someone could buy coilovers to lower the car 3". each one uses the product according to what they want. but wouldnt it be nice to have the ability to either leave your car at stock height, or lower as much as needed to float your boat?
