Default Dealer Tire Pressure 2014 Base tC

Got my new tC a few weeks back and now have 1000 miles. Just decided to check my tire pressure today and have 45 psi in all 4 tires. I know door sticker is recommending 30-33 psi depending on if front or back. I like to run mine on the high side for better mpg but why would they be that high? My gauge could be a little off but even if really 40 psi that is way too high, right?

You probably had a lazy ___ do your pre delivery inspection. They come from the factory at 45-50 psi to prevent flat spots on tires if the vehicle sits too long. I work for a toyota supplier that mount the tire on the rim and balance it then send it to toyota. So I know lol. They are supposed to drop it during the pre delivery inspection. I'd just drop them to 35 if you want. Any higher on that low profile tire will put a lot of stress on your suspension.

Thanks Dutch - do you know why the door sticker recommends 33 for front and 30 for rear? Don't really want them to be different if I don't need to keep up with that when I rotate tires. Matt

Mainly because the rear end is very light so make the right rougher in the rear than the front if pressure was higher.

The recommended pressures on the door jam is what the engineers calculated out for recommended cold tire pressure.

I did check the tire on my Yokohamas and it says not to exceed 40 PSI although I think the max on those is 50 psi IIRC. Most of them time when I had my tires rotated and balanced I think my dealership did 32 psi for all tires.

I kind of wish there was a formula to help calculate tire pressure.

I hope I am not restating the obvious here, but pressure and temperature are proportional to each other. Ideal gas law.

Fellas, are these recommended tire pressures the same for 19" TRD wheels with 235/35 tires?

Hard to say tbh another way of getting a recommended tire pressure is to contact the manufacturer.

For my winter tires I contacted Michelin and they advised me 32 psi all around and I'm running 17's in the winter.
