Don't sand aluminum with anything coarser than 400-grit. Green ScotchBright is probably good enough.

When I Painted my wheels...

I used 400Grit > 800Grit > 1500Grit.

Then used the DupliColor Wheel Spray Paint...with the ClearCoat.

I just finished using plasti dip. good thing is that if you ever want to go back to stock, just rip off the rubber. You'll need about 3 cans + 1 1/2 - 2 hours.

400 grit, very light, just enough to get the clear off.

Boricua! I just wet sanded very light with 400 grit to remove the clear, cleaned them with some grease remover and then one of my friends paited them (black ebony and clear). The wheel center caps are wrraped in red vinyl. Good luck bro!
