Default Front Bumper Question

I recently cracked my front bumper on my 2006 xA due to an accident. I was thinking of buying a new bumper and as I'm looking through websites, I find that aftermarket ones are the way to go since they are considerably cheaper than OEM, though I did find a good deal on OEM 06 bumpers painted for 500.

Will it look weird for me to just have an aftermarket front bumper without buying the rest of the kit (skirts, and rear bumper)?

I was interested in getting a falcon front bumper or a Fab front bumper which would look better?

I would really appreciate the feedback.

No, just be mindful of how low the aftermarket one is. If it it too low it will look funny.

aftermarket bumpers tend to look funky without matching the rest of the car.

also, you get what you paid for. alot of body kits are made from crap, paper thin, crack, don't fit, don't match the body lines, and will require more labor to fit to the car.

either get an oem bumper, or bear the shame of a cracked bumper and save up for a nice kit when you can. but don't waste money putting on crap that your going to be kicking yourself for later.

you can find an oem bumper for cheaper than 500 that seems steep, even painted. If you want some technique on how to paint it yourself:

good advice the both of you. Thank you =)

i guess i'll definitely go oem, but i'll have to get it painted by someone else because painting it myself would be too time consuming for me.

i'm actually just looking for a quick fix because i'm thinking of trading in my xA for an xD in the spring and I don't think the dealer would want to see a cracked bumper

Okay, I did some more digging around, and I seem to have found OEM front bumpers for as low as 84 bucks, though availability is questionable. Props to aweezee for telling me that 500 was too much =)

Now, I need to actually find someone that will paint it for a decent price...

wow a dealer price for 80? nice! well I went ahead and ordered an OEM 2006 bumper painted to match my car's body for 455 bucks. I figure it's a deal since i don't plan on painting the bumper myself. I called up some local body shops and they said they can estimate the paint job at 400 bucks. So definitely gonna go with the ebay deal.

Curiously, I went to the local Scion dealer today and asked about replacing my xA with a new xD just to see if I would be able to keep the same monthly payments as my xA which is 220. I was surprised when they said that it is very possible, but only if my car was in immaculate condition. So I better hurry up and fix that bumper!

Does anyone know where to get the front grill emblem for cheap? The dealer was selling them for 30 bucks. I want one to replace the one that popped out in the accident.

$400 just to paint a bumper is way too high. is that including the cost of the bumper?

no it's not. it's just the cost to paint it. i think the prices are high as well, but i need to get this thing done. i also called up a couple other places, and they said about the same price. does it have something to do with the season? how much should they be charging?

There is no reason in my opinion but typical body shop ripp offs. an OEM bumper is just that "OEM" it comes painted already straight from the manufacturer.

Forgive me if this is a re-question but did you actually call some dealerships?

you know, i never did call the dealer. i did ask them about the grill emblem for my xA and they wanted 30 bucks for it! That's way too much for a little piece of plastic. I just figured they would gouge me even more for a bumper.

the OEM bumpers that i've been finding are only set up ready to be painted and they were charging the cheap 84 bucks for it. the actual painting of the bumper is where i was having my cost issues.

it absolutly does not come painted from the manufacturer. when you order a OEM bumper, it comes in raw plastic.

$400 to just paint a bumper is a rip off. my shop would charge about $140 to just paint a bumper. thats providing that you supply the bumper and you do the install

Than who painted our 100% made in Japan xA's??? That is one of the most bizarre things I have ever heard. They don't get shipped here all raw plastic, do they?

But year $140 sound MUCH more realistic..
