Default lifespan of HID bulbs, zenon, ???

Hello,
Can anyone chime in, with info. pertaining to how long/ typically HID zenon bulbs last for (roughly how many hours). Anyone w/ experience having to replace them, if you can remember back how long they lasted you.

Thanks in advance( HID sponsored sellers, feel free to chime in as well) !!!

Cliff,

Thanks for the reply !!!
I thought the 3K hour # was in regards to the life of the ballast(on average) , not the bulbs ??!! Do you know the typical lifespan on a single ballast ?

on my OEM Infiniti ballasts, it states 2,000 hours. Aftermarket ballasts probably last plus or minus 2,000 hours, longer if you're lucky.

Samething with the bulbs, my OEM Philips D2S 85122 states 3,000 hours. I'm guessing whatever brand you have will be plus or minus that range too.

Any OEM HID bulbs usually are rated for 3000 hours. But they do in fact last longer than that. However, genuine OEM bulbs will go through color shifting, meaning color will become bluer and light intensity will be reduced as the bulb ages. Hope this help.

Does anyone know if aftermarket bulbs also go through this "color shifting" of light intensity during its lifespan ?? So, a 4300K bulb as it ages, will become more blue in color = closer to a 6K towards the end of its life.
