Was you car in an accident? Was the hatch ripped off some how? I couldnt tell you what would happen if you unplug it short of just try and see what happens. I am thinking hte license late lights will not light up, but thats me. You can pry off the rear cover on the hatch to see what it hooks up to, maybe the lock or license light.

Because of these strange turn of events, I would forward you to the dealer. I wimped out installing my oem alarm, they did it for 135 bucks.

Mines went on with no problems. Basically you pay out the template, check it 5 times before drilling as it doesnt quite fit exactly. Then use a punch to make small demples where to drill holes. Drill small holes first. Then drill larger til you get to exact size needed. You need a rivet or nut insert tool to put in the nut/ribets. Then remove the 3rd brake light. Thread through the connector and plug it in inside the car and tuck it back inside the whole so it sticks out the back. Hook up third brake light to spoiler and test fit it. Then I put some weather sealer on the holes where they was bare metal and installed the bolts. Snugged them down, test wiggled it and then tightened them down and put more weather sealer on the fastners and installed the bolt covers. DONE!!!!! Check to make sure 3rd brake light works, believe me its effing bright. Just feels funny to drill and hammer on a new car.

I got the weather sealer at the local auto store. The stock rivnuts need a special tool, I used sae ones with matching hardware and the shops nut insert tool where I use to work.
