Default Your thoughts on Kenstyle front grill mod style :)

Hi all!

James here your local Mod addict

I have a Kenstyle Front grill I am working on right now. I need your guys opinions about an issue I am having. I am going to present this as clear as possible, hehe My original idea was to make it look as exactly like this as possible :

If you look closely there is some detail like black in the frame with black mesh.

Now the Blue version of the same grill is not this way, it's not black on the inside of the frame and has a light colored mesh:

Here is another sample (not Kenstyle I don't think) of an xA with similar front grille, no black paint inside the frame:

So my question again is what do you think I should do?What you think will look better?

I made a mock up of it on my car from my "unfinished" grill. I hope you can give me your thoughts here. It's just for feedback. I will do what I want anyway but wanted to give you guys the chance to say something. Maybe you will say, Ouch leave the 06 grill on and throw the Kenstyle away! Who knows

here is my set up so far Photoshopped!!!!!! No paint on grill yet and no mesh. Just white primer

PS! I will be adding a lip kit soon so the front bumper will be a bit more aggressive and take some attention off the front grill. Oh and it will be a bit lower maybe if I get better springs.

Open Style Grille FTW!!!

1st thing Im getting on the TSX is the Mugen Style grille which looks exactly the same as the Kenstyle on the xA.

Rs1's grill is different though. Simular btu different enough. I would keep the rs1 grill the same as well. You see the look in my car with teh black or not with both be very different adding a different effect. I think I have to PS this with black as well.

WHat is the Mugen Style?

KK, so I am thinking I should finish the project "open" and see how I like it. I can always take it off and painstakingly black out what I need

I will be enough work as it is just getting it to not look home done even if I do it open

Yes why I like it also. Clean and just seems more work into detail. But it would take allot of work to get it that nice

Man I hate it when I have to wake up in the morn to get stuff done and can't sleep

Waiting on the OEM paint as well, so I really can't work on the grill. Any one know where I can find small mesh for the grill that looks like the one in the Kenstyle grills??

eah i've been looking at this grill on ssuperstore.com. i'm likely to get it as soon as this weekend. my opinion. leave the grille mesh free, take off the mesh from the bumper and roll it that way. only think that's keeping me from that is that i have fog lights, and i wanted the entire look to match, one way or the other. give that a shot.

by the way, a few questions...
where did you get the grille?
how much?
is it hard to install?

K You really confused me there. "Leave the grill mesh free"?

Do you know how delicate the Condenser is? That's the thing up front that looks like a radiator You leave the bumper and grill free your out of AC in about 4 days cause a rock is gonna poke a big hole in it Then you might bust your compressor cause your running the AC not knowing it's busted and then you have a like $2000, unwarranted mess Happened to me "WITH" the damn grill mesh.

To answer your Q's
-I got it from ssuperstore.com
-$179
- the pics you see are pre-fabrication. It's not on yet. I still need to paint and clear coat + wait a week to let seal It need adjustment for the 06 bumper. You might have to cut it or use velcro on the bottom to keep it there.

Default UPDATED PICS!

PS: I should have the Salsa Red Pearl paint Thursday. But this is where I am at It's not much but White primer and some semi flat black to make it look somewhat authentic on top :nails. Hey I had to do some thing while I waited with all this energy.

I was also REALLY bored and could not waist the op. to paint some misc. parts. This was was super easy. from start to putting them back on with dried semi flat paint 2hrs.

It won't look right I don't think. Unless I do some 2 tone on the car. Maybe at some paint.

man that sucks. i had no idea. thanks for the heads up on that. in that case i guess i could either make a few plates to go in front of all the sensitive parts... or more than likely go mesh shopping. i'm thinking painting the mesh red... but using a stencil, have the scion logo painted in yellow. that or just leave the mesh red and just glue the autobots emblem that's on the stock grille now. i had a feeling that mods had to be made on the grill for the 06. oh well. i got mine from ssuperstore too. how long did you have to wait once you placed the order?
