I'm still waiting to hear from my dealer (Steet Scion, Yorkville, NY) about when they will get their first lot of xA's. I ordered mine a week or so ago and really appreciate all the great info you folks have put up here. I'll let anyone know what mine is like when it gets here. So far it all looks good.

brianfay- i got my xA RS 1.0 from steet... im from new hartford, ny (near utica)... thats pretty sweet

question - the new pioneer HU on the '06 xA looks hawt, especially the one with the iPod connection. can those be swapped (after being purchased of course) with an 05 xA HU.... im interested in getting that and putting it in for my stock 2005 pioneer HU.... and what about the taillights? i dont know about you guys, but i think those look pretty damn flashy....

The steering wheel gets me, it looks like you can have now CC build into the steering wheel. I WANT THAT. Rostra wireless is not working on the Xa according to Rostra and the stick mounted on the plastic shroud is lousy. Also Scion seems to be not to good to reply to e-mail, Toyota installed my CC and the mechanic never bothered to put the big gromet back into the firewall. The main wires are chaving nicely away on the firewall metal. I wrote to Scion on there website but no reply and it is more then 24 hours. I have to post the pics here. I wonder now about the service.

I'm personally not a big fan of the '06. I think it's lost a lot of character and is starting to look like just another in a long line of econoboxes.

In fact, I think every one of the changes hurt it. The quirkiness of the original design is what grabbed me.

Those steering wheel controls shown on the '06 xA are remote controls for the factory standard or optional radio/CD player, not for a cruise control.

In reality it would make more sense for those to be cruise control controls rather than radio controls - heck, the radio is only a foot away from the wheel...sadly, such is not the case.

I'm curious why Scion doesn't offer cruise as an option. I would have expected, given everything else, that it would have been standard, but to not have it available as an option seems odd. Anyone know why?

Thanks Tomas, bummer, I got finally a reply from Scion and they refer that CC is not a standard item and I have to contact the dealer for the lousy work they did. I knew that anyway but on the other hand since you can configure the Xa on the website with CC I would say it is the responsibility of them to make shure it is done right. Now I still want to look into the CC wireless from Rostra, even tough they claim it does not work on the Xa. Makes no sense to me why not.

What us 2004-2005 owners of xAs and xBs can hope for, Matt, is that EVERYONE who orders a 2006 and doesn't want the stock head unit orders it with the free radio anyway, so they can sell it kinda cheap to those of us who want a **** instead of the safety-hazard buttons to control the volume.

Let's see, you got it free, you don't want it, so how 'bout $50 plus shipping, eh? It's $50 you didn't have before. :D
That's a very good point, Tomas. Does the '06 unit come in a 6-disc changer version? That's what I have (got it for free by accident ) I'd be willing to give up the disc changer ability, but I'd miss the color change. I have my cupholders, stereo, and "oven" in blue.
No, the '06 does not get the 6-Disc option, but if you get the i-Pod upgrade, you get the color change feature that the 6-disc had. You also get auto sound leveling, that will increase the volume of the radio the faster you go. Pretty cool if you ask me.

does anyone know the answer to my question - the new 06 pioneer HU with the i-pod upgrade... that deck... can it be swapped into an 05? (im considering getting that and having it done, if possible)

The steering is on a number of American Toyotas and Japanese Toyotas such as the Caldina and the RAV4.

So the auto sound leveling is only available on the iPod unit?
