Default Air Flow Selector **** Won't Turn to Defrost Settings?

I'm having an odd problem with my 1-week old 2006 Scion xA. The air flow selector **** refuses to turn to the right farther than the "floor-only" setting. I can't make it go to the defroster settings at all. This happens whether or not the A/C is on, and whether or not I have the air recirculating or coming in fresh.

I'm not finding anything in the manual on this. Am I missing something, or do I need to take the car back in to the dealer to fix this?

You are not missing anything... bring it to the dealer.

Yup, there are a couple of adjustments on the linkages - sounds like it might be hanging up on the A/C switch.

Pop it in to the dealer...

I am having the same problem on my xB, although it only started after I put in an Injen SRI yesterday. Is this coincidence, or did I cause the problem?

Injen brand intakes are the only ones known to cause this issue. It's called "intake induced HVAC control cable recoil".

Is there something I can do to fix this issue, or will I have to pay the dealership since this is obviously not going to be covered under warranty?

Sorry bro. I was just being a smarta$$.

There's no such thing. Whatever issue you are having with your HVAC controls have nothing to do with your intake.

I think it took me all day to figure that out. I'm a little skittish when it comes to modding, since this is really my first car worthy of it. No worries.
