Default Cabin Filter

I discovered the advance auto filter deal did not offer a filter for the ac on the scion and went to auto zone. Although the book showed a bosch filter, the orered filters were arm and hammer with odor guard and came in a two pack. It was less than 20 bucks and I was skeptical about it working vs blocking too much air. Turns out they do well, did not add that much noise and does not seem to effect air flow.

Sounds great if you want bits of metal and fiber glass in your ac system. I think a better idea would be to buy a package of xerox paper and once a month fold a sheet up length wise in 1/2 pletes.

The filter is just paper/cardboard type of material with pleates.

I use to service my parents ac systems when replacing a heater core. Gotta open up the air box and while I was in there I would clean the crap from the ac condensor as that thing had all the air pass through it first, then the heater core was in a pocket off to the side with a flap that controled air flow through it.

I bought a WEB Plus reusable A/C filter, filters particles .3 microns in size. The best part is thats it is reusable so this is the first and last air filter I will ever have to buy. Here is the page for it http://www.webproducts.com/products/...c/web_plus.jsp. I didn't notice any decrease in air flow and there is no fiberglass or metal parts. Got it for $20 at Lowe's. It's the K&N of in-cabin air filters(minus the oil)

I personally agree with buying a filter from home depot and cutting it. If you do it right it works fine. Its cheap and effective.

I had trouble finding one at Autozone in San Diego. I ended up buying it from Kreagen auto parts. Kinda a PITA finding one locally. Next time I'll just buy the Home Depot AC filter and cut to fit.

FYI the demensions are (8 5/8 by 7 5/8 inches.)

If its cool to cut up a home depot house filter, then no one can say my stuck on fake hood scoupe is ghetto.

Star, just remove the glove box by squeezing the sides and once it starts to bend towards the pasenger seat and lift upwards. You should see a bunch of wires and a white thing on the rear right side. On this white thing you should see something that looks like a tray with edges you push in and pull out. Pull the tray towards you after pushing in the tab edges and that is the tray where the filter goes.

ok ... i did that already cuz i saw it in my owners book ... but the thing is my tray was empty and all i can see is a round funnel under the tray with a round filter in it

thats why i dont know how to take that out and my dealer told me they checked it and that i needed a new one

so i dunno what is going on there ... its weird

Go to the little buttons at the top of the page, find the link to the tech section. Once in the tech section look for the instruction on making and installing your very own cabin air filter.

Thank you.
