Car wash guys wouldn't even know it.

Remove the cover:

Side view of the box:

Bottom view:

So for those that say it can't be done it can. 1.125 cu foot with woofer displacement. Sounds killer too, Wife likes it.

perfectly flush with the back. I wanted it to look exactly like the factory plastic piece that covers the spare. Not exactly the easiest thing to get out but I've got the spare which means alot between Casa Grande and El Centro on the way to and from San Diego.

Now THAT is sweet! Great job. I can't believe you were able to do that AND leave the spare tire in the car. Is that sub hooked to the stock system or have you done other mods to the audio?
*edit..duh, never mind. I looked at the pics again and I can see it's not the stock head unit.

tore out the factory unit, using it for a door stop currently =0)
Rockford Fosgate Mp3 player in the dash, Blaupunkt 4 x 100 Class t mini amp (the things under the seat, it's like the size of a vhs tape) Boston Pro 6.5 comp set in the front doors, aside from the deck it all looks stock, doesn't sound it though.

So if you were to go into business for yourself and make/sell these boxes (boy would that take up a lot of your time), how much would you sell them for? Just wondering what kind of price range I'd be looking at if I had someone build one for me locally...

I used to run a Audio shop, I was doing car auido and security for about a dozen years. Currently my best friend can make copies of that box for about $225 I think. Depending on how much the shop wants to charge. There is a lot of bondo in that box to take care of the curves (not like the curves are all bondo but there is slotted wood to make the curves and a mix of bondo and fiber glass to make it air tight). Sadly with the amount of time it took to build that one it wasn't very cost effective (time wise) though the orginal design of the box was for a pair of 8's to go where the tool tray was and it to be a ported enclosure with the port on the other side. The 8's I had on order never showed and I was doing this for my wifes birthday. So at the last minute we added the 'bowl' in the middle and relocated the woofer to the middle ditching the 8's for a 12. A p2 10 would pound in that box ported. The specs turned out dead on for the P1 12. I perfer ported enclosures but due to space constraints the box would have had to be 3 inches taller to be ported. Currently when i play with the system I can get the rear view mirror to spin circles and flex the windshield about 1/4 inch possibly more. I also managed to roast one 12 due to overdriving the crap out of it. I believe most shops would end up charging about $150 to $200 for that crazy of a box and may or may not be very good quality. If you were in the tucson area I'm sure I could hook you up with one of your own, sadly it's not cheap and would cost a bundle to ship as the box and cover weigh about 60 lbs without the woofer. Now if I did a fiberglass mold of this and could mass produce the bottom of the box that would be something, plus could get a bit more air.

Every time i see that I smile. I think I am going to get some of that insulation foam, fill up the spare tire well, then use it as a frame to Fiberglass a box with.
