Got a thumbs up on my XA
Since the first day I got my car in this town ppl has been giving me either bad looks or just plain laugh at me. Tonight while I was waiting for a light a very nicely moded white eclipes (2nd gen) came up right next to me....I tried to avoide eye contact because I assume that he'll just make fun of my car. He called me out and said to me "looks good man, looks really good" nodding his head in respect then he gave me a thumbs up while I make my turn and we parted ways with me smiling and feeling all warm inside.
This tought me that while other ppl are being judgemental of my car I was being judgemental to everyone else thinking that all of the mitsu and honda enthusiast are all stuckup bastards who makes fun of every other car out there especially one that stands out so much like the Xa. I truely am wrong

I have received nothing but compliments on my xA. When I first bought it, I would go to Home Depot a lot to pick up supplies for my home and in the parking lot I'd be stopped by mostly middle age to older folks. I had one tell me that he thought it was sharp, lot nicer than a Honda. Another asked me if it was a Mini Cooper. An old guy, probably about in his 60s told me he thought it looked, "cool".
I don't think I've had anybody laugh at my car, and if they did, I could care less, I bought the car because it suits my style.

Crap! where the hell do you live?
I get nothing but compliments all time. I remember one guy said "Wow it looks like its from the future!"
Then they like even more when I explain to them how much it costs, all the standard stuff it comes with, its made by Toyota, etc.

I got a lot of love when we went to Monterey this weekend. A few thumbs up, a full quiz by a parking attendant. We were cruising thru a residential area and this lady, probably in her 70's - driving a PiTy Cruiser, just stared as I drove towards her and I could see her mouth moving, so I rolled down the window and stopped since there was no traffic. She asks me what it was, the usual ?s and then says If they make it in bright red, like my PT, I'd trade this in now. I told her the red was much darker, but they did have a bright yellow, in limited quantity. I told her where to check it out and drove away. My wife sez "Why didn't you just invite her to breakfast..."
the first time i saw an xA , i admit i wanted to make fun of my brother for wanting it
but after seeing it more often, it definitely grew on me. I drive my brother's xA all the time now

yeah i was driving to pick up my rims today and this greyhound bus was next to me. she opened the door and yelled hey. i looked over and she said that she loved my car. it was awsome,
When I first got my car, quite a few people told me that I'd spend the entire winter stuck because it's not all wheel drive and the ground clearance is too low. Well, that' didn't hold true, because the only place I got stuck all winter was in the parking lot at work -- and that was entirely my fault: I tried to park in the only spot left, but it hadn't been plowed. Fortunately, since the car only weighs 2340 pounds, it was easy enough to push out by myself. Try doing that with a Ford F350.
Most interesting comment so far: Where do you wind it up?

Like everything new people don't know how to take it. Everyone has there own likes and dislikes. I just got my wife a XA this week cause its what she wanted, the look the style, and all the extras that you can put on it. To each his own is what I say but I never bought a car for someones approval. Its what we like and I could care less what anyone eles thinks of it they didn't pay for it I did. Even her mom said ( I think yall could have done better ) I let her know if she would like to go out and buy her something she wanted her to have to be my guest! Needless to say my wife still has her XA!
There must be a lot of hicks in Vince700's neighborhood.
The only flack I've gotten for my car was outside of a total redneck bar here in the horse country section of Riverside. Some guy in a F150 just said it was too small, but he did seem to like the styling. I replied that I really like 32 MPG.
Most people seem to think the car is "cute" or ask "Is that a hybrid?"
