I got my xA - Picture!
Well, I picked her up yesterday. Named her "Hueva". Huevo is the spanish word for egg, and if huevo were a feminine word (and all cars are female) it'd be hueva. So, hueva she is.
Here's a picture when she had just 1 solitary mile:

Couple of quick ?'s
- When did you have your first oil change?
- Dealer said no break in required - true or false?
- Anything else I should know? Treat me like a dumb girl. I'm not a dumb girl, but I've never owned a new car.
- OH! WTF is up with my gas gauge? Instead of F and E I have 1/1 and R? Umm... what?

Don't remember first oil change. I can check if you want. I have the papers.
And that's false. All cars need to be broken.
Correcting self.. all cars need to be broken if you want them to treat you well. Treat them like you want to be treated, just like people. ;)
Question! Are you going to get a vanity plate that says "hueva"? That'd be cool.

Being nice should be no problem. I'm practically grannying the poor thing while I figure out how it's geared. SO different than any other manual I've ever driven!
And I wasn't thinking about the vanity plate I FREAKING LOVE THE IDEA! Hehe. I almost *have* to do it now!

If you think the xA's clutch is different, drive the tC!
I learned how to drive stick on my xA, so I'm completely used to her.. I've driven a number of other manuals for test driving and every clutch is different than the last.. but yeah.
Enjoy her, for sure.
And you're welcome for the idea. xD

Oil changes are cheap insurance for a long life for the engine. 3,000 miles use to be the standard, but Toyota recommends 5,000. Drive the car a various speeds and don't try to baby it too much. Drive slowly until the temperature light goes out and then drive normally. Welcome to the life with a Scion and Good Luck!!
I asked about oil changes because I've seen some people say they did their first after only a few hundred miles because of the metal shavings that get in your oil during the break in period. Is this something I need to consider doing?
5000 seems like a long time for me for an oil change - I'll probably stick closer to 3-4000 in general.
Thanks everyone. :D

dito.. Did my first change at 3K, will do next @ 8k and every 5 thereafter. Unless...I decide to change it myself (after the next two free changes). Anyone give me the heads up on doing your own oil changes with the Xa? The ground effects leave little room for jackless changes,,,,,aye? Most of my previous cars were pretty easy.
I have always done my oil changes (myself) on brand new cars at every 1k mark for the first 5k. Then I go to every 3k after that. It maybe overkill, but I think it couldn't hurt.
