Influx of people who shouldn't be driving xA's.
Lately i've been seeing alot of people who were not exactly targeted in Scion's approach to appeal to a younger crowd. Generation Y did they call it? Whatever.
My point is, i've not seen one other person in the Orange County area who isn't an obese housewife or a senior citizen driving an xA. What's the deal?
Maybe its just the area I live in.

I own a xB and my wife just bought a xA.We do the local club scene,we even just hosted a road rally/picnic for the local Scion owners.....please note that I am 48 and my wife is...well few years younger. My 18 year old son and I just attended Scion Exposed here in Ohio last weekend also.Age really doesn't have anything to do with it.I know plenty of yougner people who are dead in the water.
Perhaps age doesn't define the ability to see a value car with some personality.

Its not like i'm taking offense, it would just be nice to see younger people driving xA's as well.
The problem mostly out here in SoCal, is that everyone and their dog owns a tC, therefore they can't own an xA. Which they should have bought in the first place.
xA>tC

I noticed you have those xA inserts on your doors, was that a do it yourself thing or was that dealer installed?
I was thinking about getting them.

There is a good deal of young xA owners in SoCal and mostly San Diego. It's just that Scion has given up on the xA from their lack of immediate interest compared to the tC and xB. And then they just put more nails in the coffin by having retarded RS packages and colors. I hope these cars get some better loving in the future because being the bastard child hasn't paid off yet.
theres just as many "old" people in any and all scions, or cars in general. Fot example I think I saw the worlds first woman at the rest area with a tc today. My opinion I don't see Scion as a total youth branded car but more of a becon for a certan kind of lifestyle or some crap like that where one wants a bit of the unique vibe.
I have the same problem here in SE Wisconsin. But there's a 20 something female driving her silver xA around town. I noticed most of the (hate to say) "geek" population has xA's. I do wear glasses but I'm so far away from THAT crowd. That's one of the reasons I SO want to make my more appealing. The older people owning them...That makes me really want to get customize plates with "GEN Y OWNED" lol
The funny thing is, the Scion family was targeted toward the younger crowd... but the majority of the people that are buying them are the 40's - 50's crowd.
Personally, I bought the xA because it was the cheapest car, with the most room, with the most gas mileage.
My Lightning was my daily driver (8mpg in town, 12mpg on hwy)... now it finally gets the rest it deserves, and gets driven a few times a month.
I think the reason most are buying (older crowd) is just as a commuter vehicle, instead of driving the gas guzzler.

I also bought it due to cheap price with the most room, with better gas mileage than my supercharged toyota tacoma truck.

Well, just for statistic purposes, the average age for xA/xB buyers is 34 and tC, 25
Gotta remember, the average age of Toyota buyers is around 50, and generally if customers are coming in to check out Toyotas, they are most likely gonna come across Scions as well.

I can really relate to you guys. My XA is giving my supercharged Dakota a rest.

Since I am a 50 year old male, and therefore not a Gen Y consumer, I guess I should'nt be driving an xA either. However, since I am an optomist ,and generally get along with and like all ages and types of people, I guess I view the Scion cars and the xA in particular , with a different perspective. While Scion owners are a diverse group, I view the xA as a bridge, or a way to find common ground within our owner group. Reguardless of our ages, backgrounds, cultures, or geographic locations, we all share at least three things in common: a love and appeciation for these stylish, fun to drive little xa's, a respect for Toyota built quality and durability, and last, but not least, we are SMART consumers who appreciate the features, value, and uniqueness this car offers us! I always wave at passing xA owners because I'm happy to see another member of our small but proud family!
Yep, I resemble this remark as well. Funny thing is, wife and I originally went to the dealership looking for a Celica. None left, I got her to reluctantly look at the tC...but I was somehow drawn to the xA. After getting the tC and being very impressed by the quality for the money, I went back and gave the xA (and xB) another look. Couldn't leave without it. ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Lil-Blu-Monster.
