Default Keyed... :(

So.. After owning my car for only one week, it's been keyed.. The scratch is on the driver side door and is about 3 inches long. It's not down to the metal, but I do see the grey/white primer.

Does anyone have advice for how to fix this? Everything I've read on the intarweb.net says that you should avoid using touch-up paint...

man that sucks! Not really sure if there is much you can do about it now other than re-painting the door or using touch up paint. You might stop by a paint shop and see what they think about it? Your insurance might cover it?

That really sucks. I dont understand how or why people do things like this.

My deductible is only in an accident with two parties. When someone backed into my previous car and dented the door and took off without me knowing who did it, insurance took care of it without a deductible at all.. You should at least call them and see if they might cover this for you. If not, then I would call a few body shops for estimates. I dont think I would do this myself.

State Farm. I believe they said it was covered under 'Comprehensive' and I have $500 Deduct for 'Collision'. But since I dont know who did it, or how it was really done, it was filed under comprehensive and not collision.

From a web site:

"Comprehensive is very similar to collision insurance, the main difference being that comprehensive covers damage caused to your vehicle caused by any unknown party or "act of God".

Vandalism, flood, hurricane, theft, and fire are all events usually covered by comprehensive automobile insurance. (But make sure to read your comprehensive insurance policy for exact coverage details.)"

So yeah, the OP, if you have comprehensive, you'll probably get this fixed up for free. Unless you have a deductible for comprehensive. (I dont think it was even an option for me?)

I hope you can get it for free but I actually had a tree fall on my previous car (05 suzuki) and total it. They called it an act of god, but I still had to pay a $500 deductable. At least that was all I had to pay though. It was like $9000 in damages.

Do you know why they did it? Or was it just a jealous thing?

Did you check the price of $150 deductible versus $500 or $1000? You are probably paying alot more than you have to. Unless you have alot of claims, you generally are better off with a higher deductible.
