Default Terribly Awful Squealing Screeching sound

The past couple of days, at times when I start my car there's a louds screeching squealing sound. It does this while idling, will sometimes continue as I pull out. When I really press on the gas, it will get louder, then stop. It has been about 15 degrees here lately, if that makes a difference? I'm sure it's common, but I just don't know what it is, or what to do....it is the WORST sound ever, and people look at my XA like it's going to blast off into space....

sounds like your fan belt or your power steering belt

just pop open your hood and listen for where the sound is coming from

if it is coming from the belts just buy a can of belt dressing should cost under 5 dollars for a can and just follow the directions on the can...

lol!! If that's what it is, I'm pretty sure inappropriate things are happening to the poor squirrell, based on the sound.....

It also could be your alternator going out....if the belt dressing doesn't fix it, have the altornator checked.

Check your radiator Hoses. When I crashed my yaris, and got it back, it would only do this in really cold weather, turned out my radiator hoses were leaking fluid, this is a serious problem and could mess ur car up bad. It would screech and screech and then i had it towed and the hoses were the problem.

I'm getting some belt dressing tomorrow....

I hope it isn't anything else....the car only has like 15,000 miles on it....still under warranty. In fact, I was just in for them to replace the charcoal canister, I'd really feel like an ___ showing back up for something else.
