Yeah. It use to be anything with an engine smaller than a v8 had like a 3 speed auto, took 37 seconds to reach 0-60 and cruzed at 4 grand. Now it seems the smallest of cars come with either a 4,5 speed auto or cvc tranny.

Think I should post something in the regional forum in my area to see if any of the "local' dealer would be interest in a trade for purchase of another scion or toy?

the yaris is coming out in a 4 door hatch soon. i feel the xd would be a better choice though still as for avaiablility and all you can still do with them.

Decisions, decsions, decisions... I was thinking yaris sedan, prius, xd. I seriously doubt an xa or xb first gen exists. Shame I have 3200 roughly to go to pay mines of and all mods are paid for.

Not to sound cold, but, an xD might be your best choice......didn't you say you had some size to you? A Yaris might be too small, a Prius will be too hard to get(you can bet they won't come off the price if you find one) .

Again, that is not meant to be anything other than helpful.

Here we go with the fat jokes. No, you are right. I sat in an xd some time ago and thought it was great. I just could not get use to the drivers side mounted guages.

Truthfully, that is what i was leaning for if it wasnt as easy as buying an auto tranny, the center dash, maybe an axle or two and a days labor at the local dealer to make mines automatic.

The prius my local dealer just seems not interested in selling to me, the yaris hatch back was tight, the sedan felt strange as the steering wheel and petals did not line up with the drivers seat.

I think that you're probably best off stripping your parts, buying an automatic xA and reinstalling them on that. Now if you're lookin at moving into a different car I'd say go with the Yaris. What exactly felt "off" in the sedan?, as that's the car I would say to go with. I'm 6'2" 245lbs and I fit great inside the sedan. Plently of room inside. Now I have driven both the automatic sedan Yaris and xA back to back and as far as power/pep goes you'll definitly want to go with the Yaris. The final gearing on the Yaris auto is a tad more aggressive, the car's lighter and more aerodynamic, and the electric powersteering frees up some extra power. If I had to buy an automatic car, that would be the one....it just felt right. The xA, way to sluggish with the automatic. Always wanting to downshift to get any sort of power out of the car, and constantly shifitng... I couldn't own the auto xA, that's why I went stick and I'm glad I did.

I have driven the xD automatic and the drivetrain itself feels great. For a stock car it has some really nice pull to it and the gearing is set up pretty damn well for a 4speed automatic. Only reason I wouldn't take the automatic in that car personally is because those upshifts are painfully soft for me. No "pop" going from gear to gear...especially floored with the 1-2 shift. Just has a very discourageing sound/feel when driven hard, and takes away any sportiness the car has. But that's my pet peve with the automatic in that car, probably wouldn't be a problem for you. Other upside to the xD over the Yaris besides the power is all the standard equipment. Other than that, personally I'd say pass on it. Car is way to fugly and doesn't get as good of gas mileage as the Yaris does....plus the xD barely has any aftermarket support.... Tons of stuff out for the Yaris. And if you don't want a Yaris sedan the 5 door is finally going to be availbe for us which is exactly the same as the xD, just with a smaller engine for better economy and a much nicer looking body.

Nothing fell off, the steering wheel and petals felt off alighned with the seat in the yaris sedan.

I tried the xd and xb today. Man, the xb was way roomie. The xd was rather cramp in the back. The dealer said scion customer perfer a blank slate and they would not give any extra for any scion or toyota parts I added to the car. Infact he said the new scions do not even offer fog lights as scion owners have no need for them.

When I mentioned taking it to carmax, he asked me to come inside and wait for somneone else. After 5 minutes I left as he wouldnt haggle, claimed he was the biggest dealer and I would be wasting my time to configure one online to get what I want vs off the lot as scions are soo hot I wouldnt get what I ordered.

Biggest Toyota/Scion Dealership in in So Cal. What an ___. Are not Scions still cars they cant haggle you on? So hot??? Even Toyota is suffering here in the USA. some dealerships are practically running skeleton crews just to stay open! The economy SUCKS!

He should have been offering BJ's in the lot to sell a car....... hahaha. it's gross but true.

PS: I think a 1st gen xB might do you ALLOT of good. It's got the room for sure. Allot better than the xA.

He has my contact info. I looked at carmax, they want 16 grand and change for an auto xa with 34k miles on it.

I just cant believe scion owners would rather get an empty car vs cruse control, rke with alarm, fogs, scion floor mats, arm rest, short shifter, legal tint, spoiler, bra, wheels....

He does not need to give me a bj, just give me 10 for my car or take 2 off the new and give me 8 for mines, Heck, it doesnt have to be a scion, it could be a yaris sedan. Not sure about a carolla, the one I rented got 20 mpg. The yaris, I think took like .67 gallons and I traveled like 30 miles or so.

I was reading the other forum xb2 and seems they get around mid 30s for mpg. I was impressed with the one at the dealer I sat in, man it had front leg room. Going to car max in a few days. Had a hang up call from the salesman.

well...if this helps, i have a manual xA and i LOVE it and will hope to never have to give it up...

my husband has an 08 rs5 xB and its also a manual and i drove it today and the xB is HUGE! i'm 5'7 and i felt like i was driving a mini van. and in san francisco, we do not ever get 30+ mpg. and the miles my husband drives each tank, atleast 3/4 of it are freeway miles.

my sister in law has an 08 rs1 xD auto and it is a bit roomie than the xA but i have to say the car itself looks great and drives pretty good, but it doesn't compare to my car. i can't quite put in my finger on it, but i have to say that it doesnt feel as solid...

as for the yaris, i checked out the 3 door yaris before i got my xA back in 06 and i thought it was crap. it rattled and felt quite unsafe. not to add, if i wanted all the options that the xA included, the car would have been 2-2.5K more off the lot. but maybe they made it better? i hope so...

Tough call, its paid for in March if I keep it. I know how to drive it and to the extremes as well with the sway bars and lowered springs. So far I am the only bidder on a tacoma truck ext cab, v6 with super charger and automatic. Great deal, but I would just feel like a criminal dumping 80 bucks in it twice a montb to fill it up. Then again if you wanted to own a monster truck like that, 160 a month is not bad. I really hate hitting the gas station as is every 300 miles or so for 8 gallons.

I do see car max also offers prius cars at reasonible prices.

Thanks
