Default MPG for true stop-n-go driving in LA?

I live in LA and drive in true stop-n-go traffic every day to and from work. I get about 22mpg. When I do a road trip I go about 70mph and get about 32mpg. Anyone similar?

lived in anaheim, worked in irvine, family near monterrey park... lowest was 26 in the winter.
generally 28-31.
Highway was once 36mpg with a trip to san fran.

your driving habits may be a bit more Jack Rabbit than you think because I've seen a bunch of people that truly live in LA and stop and go constantly and their mileage didn't suffer that much. You could also be buying crappy gas.

. I had an automatic too and the collective weight of the bodies was around 470lbs

Would gas really make that much of a difference? I really consider myself a conservative driver. I should try different gas but it seems like it would have to make a HUGE difference. I drive alone, I don't use AC much, I don't floor it at lights...doesn't make sense. Hmmm.

Ok, I live in Huntington Beach and work in Glendale. How's that for a commute? I get 30-33 MPG very consistently. Although, I'd like to do better.

as far as i can tell about the gas, Yes it does make a difference. I use to get some cheaper gas at the costo, but only averaged 28-32 MPG, then i went to cheveron and now i'm getting 33-36 mpg, and my driving is more aggressive now as well.

some gas, as far as i know, evaporates more quickly than others. some of the additives, i guess, makes the gas burn cleaner.

any experts on this?

well heres the thing

if your speeding
your gass milage goes way down
like whoa

at 65 our rpms are at around 3500 or less

at 80 we are above 4000 and in our advanced timing stage

so if your driving the speed limit somewhere your gonna get the best your can get out of your car

and if you have cold air intake you have cacapooopoopeepee of the defibrillatorsandwich i like ice cream

My gas is usually from Exxon (87 grade), and I don't speed because I can't even get up to the speed limit on Santa Monica Blvd in the a.m. Literally I'm stopped at lights and in a line of traffic, and when I go I don't go past 20 mpg. I'm perplexed!

an intake would help you with that

look around sometimes there a good investment

im looking around right now for a good ign. amp like msd but without the overheating

and im also shoppin around for headers

but i heard from a good sorce that headers dont effect mpg much so.

Default Re: MPG for true stop-n-go driving in LA?

I just got my xA and on my first tank, I got 25mpg. Lots of stop and go, with AC on 50% of the time and shifting at 4K rpm.

I am curious to folks with modified (both slight to blown) xA as to what kind of MPGs are they getting? Thanks.

well some things here and there will not or will very little effect your mpg

if you have an intake and exaust your gonna see a better proformance

but if you are a full blown race cam/piston/crank/fi kindof an engine your gonna lose mpg
