Default Need a new front bumper for an Indigo Ink XA!

Hi everyone...

I went into Target tonight to get sparkling grape juice -- my 6 year old was celebrating VD with us... when I came out, someone parking opposite me (they were gone by now), must have slid into my car on the ice and busted up my front bumper.

If I could buy the part -- painted -- I think I could put it on myself. I will find out tomorrow what the dealer would want for the part and to put it on, but I'm very nervous to find out what it will cost -- and I don't like the new xD looks At All... so a trade is not part of the equation.

Thanks for any help. Hopefully someone out there with an Indigo Ink xA is looking for a reason to go with a ground kit... could this be the time?

Andy

Default Update... Watch your bumpers... they're valuable

Ok, so I stopped in at the dealership for an estimate today. I'm thinking somewhere between $300 and $500 should be plenty to get the bumper replaced.

The estimate was so high I didn't even laugh at the guy. The quote is $994.33, and the fellow says it's about a three-day repair. Right.

In the itemized section, the bumper cover is $167.28. But get this... they estimate 6.9 hours to paint the thing.

I'm going to be looking at after-market if I can't buy a new OEM bumper cover outright.

Any suggestions on something that looks nice without looking like I want to race every single coffee-can mufflered car out there?

Thanks,

Andy

Life's too short to be too upset about stuff that's gonna happen. However, I wish I could be one of those people who can stand to drive around a heap... but I can't. So it has to be made right one way or another...

I'm Googling harder than I've ever Googled before...

norse....I am in the same boat, I need an undamaged '05 bumper, but what about this? Find you a good body shop that does a lot of Toyota's, ask them to let you know next time they paint a car in your color..then already have the new bumper and just drop it by....Slip them a couple of 100's and you are ahead of the game. I already have me a body shop, I just need to find the $$ to get the skin...

Thanks, manatee (you're not that old!)...

I just dropped my car at the body shop this morning. Found out that since it wasn't my fault, it SHOULD NOT raise my premiums. I pay the $250 deductible, and we're square.

Here's the funny thing... Not so sure how far I can trust the insurance. They told me yesterday that they'll pay for a rental while my car's in the shop. Well, after Enterprise picked me up, I was told that is not the case, and I had to sign for the car. Fine... Then the rental broke down on me in traffic.

Stranded now with no car and will have to get my wife to drive into town to pick me up from work later.

Guess it's a good excuse to ride the motorcycle till the xA is done, though!

(Would SO rather have spent the money on a bike carrier, though.)

I believe I'd have to call Enterprise and quote them some scriptures.......Then bring me a free rental that runs!

Duker, where are you, geographically? There's a fellow on here with a couple bumpers in Florida that he's trying to get rid of. If you were anywhere close, you could save on the shipping and get a road trip out of it.

Anyway, giving you a chance for another post!

Default Need ANOTHER ONE!

G'damn raccoon took out my NEW bumper cover.

So now I have to go through this again. Hopefully hitting a raccoon falls under the no-fault deal and insurance can fix it for only the deductible ... without hitting my premium.

I pine for my first car with that big ___ thick chromed steel bumper.

Ive put off on buying a body kit till when I screwup my bumper. Seems easy to install, just painting it might be tricky unless you get one that is carbon fiber/black.

Sorry to hear that.

Well I do not have a bumper but if you know of anyone looking for a 2006 xA with 29K miles cheap (it was in an accident) let me know...

This is what I posted in my area forum...

I'm here and I am OK. I'll call you. Got your PM, yes please spead the word I am selling it as is cheap!!!, you more than anybody know how well taken care off was my ride was. I never drove it in the rain and the accident was on a rainy freakin day.

Yep, I had an accident but I am OK. A guy ran a stop sign. The AmluxTRD xA got hit on the right front. The front windshield cracked.

The car is repairable but the insurance called it a Total Loss because the repair cost estimate was too high versus NADA and because the Intake manifold got broken and they can not guarantee that the internals of the engine are OK.

They tried to start it and it would not (because of the MAS because it was installed in the Cold Air Intake) and since it has the intake broken it stalls. When I took the car home I fixed it and it runs fine. The radiator is broken as is the front radiator frame. The hood needs to be replaced as the right fender and fender frame. Also the bumper, the right front headlamp is gone together with the grill. The actual body frame or "modern chasis" is OK.

Well anyway, I am OK but I am selling my 2006 Scion xA as is with 29K miles for 7500 OBO. I owe 15000 on it but I will take care of the rest. I was going to repair it but with a baby in the way I will need some $ and my wife wants a bigger car.

Anyway SKAnsters, spread the word about the sale. I am willing to negotiate.

It has Toyota alarm with remotes, rear spoiler, carbon fiber pilars, TRD air filter, Borla exhaust, Stainless steel inside door trims, TRD lowering springs. It has the ipod ready radio with the XM satellite feature ready with the XM antenna installed. I may keep the TRD 18 inch wheels but if anyone wants them they can go too with an honest offer.

You can see picture of the car in my profile, just imaging it without the right side and hood

Later bros...

I've got an old hotrod with a big bumper. Last winter, some loser in my apt complex lot cut a corner & hit the front of my car. Bent the bumper & broke my grille.

It does cost less to fix that...a re-chrome bumper better than before the hit is about $400 & the grill cost me $100 at a swap meet.

A scratch on my xA bumper is $500 to fix...

I'm just going to wait out the winter, in case I hit anything else...

I've got the thing duct-taped, and it doesn't look half bad. But I know it's damaged goods, so it bothers me. Oh well.

One year at one week since I drove it off the lot, and the Bridgestones are pretty much shot at 21k miles.

Damn.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.
